Our second option was a lad from Southampton going by the name of Alan shearer, but we chose Gabbiadini

If I remember correctly, Wright was seriously pi**sed off with comments made by that idiot Noades about black players, and hence wanted to leave. I was watching a programme on itv4 recently with Ian Wright about racism with black players then.

I also seem to remember Coppell saying that he wanted Shearer, but Southampton simply would not sell. He bought Gabbiadini without even watching him.

Part of me says 'no way,' but part of me looks at the team and the claims that we need to sell before we can buy and wonders who else we could sell for anything approaching decent money, money it seems we need to strengthen a threadbare squad and at least try to avoid relegation.

But as others have said I would not trust the board. They will either squirrel the money away (or use it to pay themselves for rent/services/interest/dividends etc. or buy some no mark or has been. (Guy in the pub before Burnley game reckoned we were in for Jermaine Defoe in the window.)

Honestly, it's a weird one, we are way too reliant on him and there is this weird vibe around him.

This summer he is off regardless of our position, in my opinion.

Let's say we get million. That's 2/3 decent players to strengthen the squad that allow us plan B, C.

Tonight as a prime example.. he didn't perform, at all... so take him away, have 2/3 players ready to start/come on and give us something to complete the team.

We are not a team right now.

What a load of nonsense. Totally disrespect for the other quality players in our squad. Wan Bissaka, Tomkins, Sakho, PVA, Luka, Meyer would walk into lots of other premiership teams.

We're definitely a team right now. We just had a really bad day at the office.

Really??

Of course they can. Now. But have nothing else beside Ayew to rely on so what do they do from now til January?

It’s a case of when not if we should sell Wilf, Timing is a major factor we don’t want to be panicking or in a relegation battle. Don’t get me wrong love to keep him and build around him but looking like it’s not going to happen that way ,as Sorloth ,rapik , etc are not going to going to put us in Europe. We should be planning now with replacement targets and sell him at end of season, but my guess is it won’t pan out this way.And as some one mentioned earlier do we trust the club to use the money wisely ?

I think Wilf will hit top form again in about 5 games, assuming he's not playing with a knock of some sort. He's trying to change his game by playing more intelligent football, rather than trying to take on 20 players every time. I back him to achieve it.

If you want to live in a world full of kindness, respect and love, try to show these qualities.

Should we sell? Probably not but ...

He should be an integral part of a great team ... we are probably two or three players short of fielding even a good team.

We have been too reliant upon Wilf's skills to get results and need to reinforce so we have other options available.

If we don't or can't spend money on bringing in some talented players we are never going to benefit fully from having Wilf in the team and there is huge risk he will leave anyway.

We are missing two strikers, we are missing players to come off the bench and change the dynamics... so whilst you are correct, we have good players, that was never in doubt, we are not a complete team, therefor, will never achieve anything playing this way.

If we were to sell we must do it properly this time. Identify a replacement and (if at all possible) agree a deal for said winger before Wilf is allowed to leave. That way the selling club don't see what we make on Wilf and quadruple the price!
We also need to make the buying club aware we will not sell unless we have sorted our own house out and will not be railroaded into selling quickly to suit them.
The beauty of being a wealthy Prem club is not being under financial pressure to sell. As a club we still seem to leave ourselves short in certain areas of the team because a either a failure to invest or a failure to plan ahead or both.
I personally would not sell Wilf but instead buy a quality striker to take some of the attacking burden off of him. That way his form will return to unplayable again.
If we did sell we need to make sure we get crazy money and spend it well. All of it. On the team. Then who knows? We might not have a relegation scrap next season for a change!

If we go down there is a good possibility he might leave. An immediate return to the PL is highly unlikely. Frankly I'd be happy if we took the money and put it in the academy considering our record in buying strikers !
