Yes, someone was arguing London was down because of Brexit - you're better of looking at the 250 which is more UK centric.

Absolutely, but the majority of us in that time has got poorer and more reliant on credit than ever before.........regardless of oil prices.

My point still stands.
2008 should've been the end of the financial manipulation yet it was not only allowed(cough cough) to continue, the debt levels/derivative exposure now far exceeds what we saw then.
But Brexit is far more important to the average bod?

Shame.

You could argue that China is as exposed as most - manageable so long as interest rates stay lowish - and be fair, you can hardly avoid Brexit.

Might not have changed the result but would encompassed more affected individuals.
I get a few over 75s work but many wont see the affect of brexit with respect.

The elderly have sons, daughters and grandchildren and an entire inheritance to think about. That’s a bit more than where the next holiday or night out is coming from or who they want shag at the weekend. Your brain doesn’t even fully developed until about 24 years old. Smartphones will probably delay that even further.

It’s weird to me how we adpoted a modern attitude of sneering at our old and seeing them as purely a burden. That’s not the case in most countries of the world for good reason. I wonder why that’s why we have so many self entitled millennials with little clue as to what’s going on in the world but limitless capacity for being offended. They just need a good spell on the naughty step.

It’s also of note that the social justice warriors don’t see age as one of their “intersections”. Ageism clearly doesn’t fit neatly into their ideology,

Agreed but their sons daughters and grand kids may have voted remain.
There is no divine right to an inheritance.
I told my folks to leave enough for their funeral.
I dont want or expect anything.
Now that is the issue of expectance with sooo many.
Waiting for your parents to die so you can have it easy.
That is a sad indictment.
Anyone who denies they are will obviously donate any to charity. Not

I don't think that wealth necessarily should be passed down but property definately as they are a generation that could easily afford to buy a house, a luxury this generation don't enjoy.

I was taking about their Darwinian inheritance. Not money or houses.

Life is short and you might cop it any time.
I have plans yes of course.
If i get there and think "oh crap "
I will regret not planning at that point.
But the now is very important, the then not so.
I voted how my life is now and didnt want to gamble on change.
It may have changed anyway but i dont have a deloreon im afraid.

Maybe we have hit the nail on the head. I'm voting to make Britain a better place for my children when they are older knowing I will have to do one for the team and suffer a possible few harder years.

Do we have to be a nation of home owners after all only half the population of Germany own their own homes with the remainder renting

Buying a house has never been 'easy' for any generation of working people. Property was, indeed, a lot cheaper to buy, but wages were so much lower too. Not forgetting that back in the day, you only got 2 1/2 times the MAIN salary of a couple for a 25 year mortgage, as women were still expected to stop working when children came along, and interest rates, although stable, were higher too.

Buying then still demanded sacrifice to be affordable for the masses - and the quality of what you could afford was often poor too - remember there was still a lot of property around that had been through war damage right up until the great building surge of the sixties. So you often spent XX to buy and than XXX on top to repair and put in order - in need of modernisation in those days usually meant no bathroom and an outside lavatory, not a lack of a power shower in the en-suite!
