At Rachid said, different player to RLC. Tuesday doesn't make him a poor player anymore than Saturday made him world class. I think it'll be another four, five games before we can get a truly accurate picture of where he's at. Even then you could argue a season is often needed to adjust to the pl though I'm not totally convinced by this argument.

Agree with the above. Will he ever be direct enough for this league? time will tell.

Everybody had a bad match on Tuesday, but apart from that he has played pretty well the last few matches. I think he is getting better but tomorrow let’s hope he steps up to the plate and really makes a difference. Both he and the team need that

Read an article yesterday that predicted Ayew would replace Meyer in the team for the West Ham game. Can't see it myself, think Meyer's playing well enough to start.

Given Roy is not even bringing him on as a sub for more than a few minutes at a time this seems unlikely. We looked like a team without a striker on Tuesday. I think having a focal point would improve Meyer's game as he can play clever letter through balls, but without that focus it just ends up going round in neat little triangles with no end product when a team sits deep.

We’ll then Andros and wilf need to play more central together then, for the sake of shape

Yes and, in the absence of a really effective striker, this is our central conundrum! I feel as though we get less out of Wilf when he plays more centrally. The one moment of joy we had on Tuesday night was when Wilf collected the ball wide and had a run at a defender.

We’ll then Andros and wilf need to play more central together then, for the sake of shape

For the umpteenth time, Wilf is not, never has been, never will be, a centre forward. To shoehorn him into a position that is not "him" takes away his effectiveness. Fullbacks are s*** scared of him precisely because he can run rings round them and get in behind. Just need players in the box....

Yes, playing with effectively 6 midfielders, they need to be busting a gut to get in the box. So mostly that is going to be Meyer Mc and Andros when Wilf has the ball and Meyer, Mc and Wilf when Andros is on it. Kouyate/Milivojevic need to make more runs from deep as well.

This - with bells on..!!

This is the problem with Luca too - look up no focal point and no forward pass on to stretch teams and create space for Zaha and Townsend - it's a real handicap to us at the moment going forward and we're paying for it big time.

Also as much as I love Roy - he seems too rigid in his formation, style of play - look at Brighton we went 2-0 down against 10 men, but he didn't change it to counter/make the most of the numerical advantage in terms of players.

Go 3 at the back, by dropping Kouyate into the back 3 with Sakho and Tomkins and push AWB and PVA on.

Look Roy has 40 odd years of coaching/managerial experience across Europe domestically and internationally so who am I to talk but it's just an observation/thought.

Come on boys let's get back on it and beat West Ham today - do that and the Brighton result won't be quite so painful to bear.

Everybody talks about having a focal point in attack, fair enough. I think Meyer can be our focal point in midfield. I was a little surprised Roy started him off in the left against Brighton which I thought negated his effectiveness. They took advantage of that and attacked along our right flank exposing Mac (who isn't the quickest guy in our lineup) and ABW. If we play 4-4-2 then play him in the middle two (with Kouyate) not on the flank. He's got an excellent first touch (like Kouyate), any other formation then he should play ahead of the other midfielders . I think he's been alright given the limited opportunities he's had so far.
