I looked for editorial that backed my claim about the bbc pandering to the right. I didn't find any. Doubtless I could find some examples if I spent weeks looking but that wouldn't really prove my point of it took me so long. So I'm gonna give you this one.

In fact BBC online is full of the kind of liberal fluff that gets on a lot of people's tits.

I only ever look at it for the weather and occasionally the football results.

But please do me a favour and tell me where you see "obvious position taking" as I don't see any of that either.

Surely this thread is full of examples.

While we may differ on things you appear to be kind of honest, which is worthwhile whatever side of the political line a person is on.

I take your point, however this “tax” is avoidable by choosing not to use the services that it covers.

Not really. If you wanted to watch only non-BBC content on say Sky or Virgin you still have to pay for a licence. You even need a licence if you watch non-BBC content on a computer. Only if you don't watch any TV broadcasting at all do you avoid having to have a licence.

The proper way to fund the BBC would be for us to subscribe to it through our digital services, just like any other broadcaster.

Not only that, with that £3 per week you could also get a leaflet from the DWP advising you how to budget responsibly.

Unfortunately, BBC4 and the absence of adverts are two things it has going for it.

Wife beating may be socially acceptable in Sheffield, but it is a different matter in Cheltenham

For what? Poor people we are told have nothing so how can they save.
Ok save 3quid a week and live in silence.
For old people a tv or radio could be there only contact to the outside world sadly.
Do me a favour.
I pay mine monthly and it isnt the annual lump then.

I am surprised that there seems to be little compassion for poor people forced to pay their license fee. I will let the Guardian have their say as they probably will do it better than me.
