All the players signed by Allardyce were already established in the 1st team before Roy arrived so he wouldn't want to cause too much upheavel there. It just seems that with Jairo he was on a bit of a hiding to nothing sort of last in first out scenario and that the club wanted rid of anything to do with FDB at all cost

Jairo had one good game against man city. Apart from that he's shown absolutely nothing to suggest he can make it in thd premiership. Not in thd odd appearance he's played for thd first team, cup games against inferior opposit in and even U23 games. Do you think if he showed anything at all I'm training he wouldn't be on the bench instead of puncheon. How on earth has he suddenly become the player we need to turn our season round?

He’s too static for me, even for a defensive type midfielder, who aren’t just sitting in front anymore anyway. Not saying that I wouldn’t play him recently though. The squad is stretched and the performances and results very recently have been poor.

Don't think I ever said he was the player to turn our season around. He has shown that he can actually find a team mate with the ball and is comfortable with the ball at his feet which can't be said for Luka who constantly losses possession.

We moan at Roy for not trying something different so here is a chance for him to do that and if it doesn't work out then fair enough but we paid a lot of money for Jairo so we should try and make it work.

Again.....with the situation we are in, if he had shown anything at all in training/under 23 do you not think he would not at least be on the bench? I Don't believe for a moment that roy would just leave him out to be stubborn. From what I've seen of him playing u23s he's making no effort to stake a claim. In fact in the laSt game he was given a rating of 5, the worst in the team. So roy is supposed to say, I know you're playing s**t and not making an effort but I think I'll stick you in thd first team anyway?....

There seems to be quite a bit of complacency amongst the team. Who's to blame for that?: the manager, the coaches, or the players themselves. I'm very much looking at the latter.

I've a slightly different angle. A few years ago my local non-league team made it into the Conference/National League. After a few months it was clear they were playing as well as they could but results were just not going their way. Slowly, the performance levels started top drop off & many thought the manager had lost the dressing room.

Bumped into two of the players on a night out who both confessed that they'd actually just lost faith in what they were doing - no matter what the result/opposition/injury situation/home/away nothing changed from his plan A. They just felt by continuing to do exactly the same things week in week out nobody expected the end result to change.

Maybe the squad is at that point?

Will this be five? It's gonna be five! It IS five!

I think we just buy just who’s available, or known to be available if you see what I mean. That’s another reason why Parish likes deadline day purchases that are like a tombola with regards to fitting the team, in addition to price and saving wages up until deadline day, regardless of whether the team and manager benefit from them training together earlier.

You can’t buy someone who isn’t available!

Tactics, poor substitutions among many criticisms levelled against Roy this quite disastrous season,as he appears to have lost his Midas touch.
Possible further losses against Leicester,Man City and Chelsea most likely see us near or at the bottom come the end of the year.
How on earth do we get out of this mess this time ???

Jairo is an example of where a poor decision by an ex manager long ago still haunts the club with expensive baggage no one else wants and denying a possibly better player a place in the squad

Responsibility Deficit Disorder is a medical condition. Symptoms include inability to be corrected when wrong, false sense of superiority, desire to share personal info no else cares about, general hubris. It's a medical issue rather than pure arrogance.

Except that he's actually reasonably decent, or would be if he were allowed to play more than twice a season. Ridiculous.

VERY good question. Let’s hope those in charge have the answers.

This post just highlights your lack of understanding and maturity. If we signed CB’s and strikers that didn’t cost £25-£30 million and 75% of our net spend then we would have money, or room to spend in the 3 year FFP cycles, to buy other players that become the next priority. To achieve that you need good scouting and people with experience hired close to you.

We sign mega money signings because we don’t do these critical things and effectively hamstring ourselves within that 3 year FFP cycle if they’re never going to bend the rules as others do.

It’s do bl33ding obvious I can’t believe I’ve had to post it. Have a good day.

Benteke and Sakho both had over 100 pages on here before they signed, the fans are just as bad demanding marquee signings every transfer window. The board would be getting slagged off now asking why we ain't showing the same ambition as other clubs if they hadn't been signed they're dammed if they do and dammed If they don't.
