What a joke, you throw accusations of racism around.

It's all you have, because your arguments are poor and based upon emotion and not evidence.

My original point stands, someone made a statement that implied that black people get off lightly with the law and you had no problem with that despite the fact that it clearly isn't true. When I stated that I believed the opposite to be true you did have a problem with that. Suddenly it matters to you.

I still believe my statement to be true based on the available evidence.

This guy didn't call you a racist. You started with that, and this was what prompted me to reply.

Do I have a bias towards the right in these discussions?....guilty as charged....though not exclusively so.

You stand by your original post....but the hubris by which you attacked him....with the 'do your homework' point means that you were very deserving in being countered because in reality the evidence doesn't support your certainty to the extent you presented.

Based on your comment I did a search -

"Personally I would say that I am racist as I have pre-conceived ideas about races, am judgemental over race and also if I’m perfectly honest, prefer some races over others. That said, I also understand that deep down we are all one family and preconceptions are only skin deep and often meaningless. Personally I believe to a greater or lesser extent that everyone is racist, many/most I’m sure would never admit it but if anyone wants to call me racist it really wouldn’t bother me because I am one.
Just to add as a footnote - I am ½ English, ¼ Irish. ¼ Black Caribbean and am married to a Jewish girl!"

Tom is 1/4 Black Caribbean, identifies as racist and believes that we all are. At the same time he acknowledges that there's not much difference between us deep down. None of those facts really have any bearing on what I said. If his comments are tongue in cheek fair play, and if they arent, I'm pretty sure he's big enough not to really give two s***s about whether I think they're racist of not considering his own view of himself and others regarding race .

Then think about your own one eyed view of race for a change. Tom views himself to be racist and everyone else for that matter, as I have stated in the post above. I'm sure he won't be losing sleep over my entirely accurate comment that black people don't breeze out of court when compared to whites.

Sigh.

The idea that 'everyone's a racist' has a drop of truth within it....but the problem is the usage of language and how people interpret and use words like racist.

Yes, everybody has biases, because everybody is human.

Racist is frequently used by people with an agenda to mean, 'bad person' when in reality it's just a word. It irritates me so I react. Is there a more serious conversation to be had about these matters? Sure, but that requires two people to have it.

I've frequently been called a racist on Hol however I've probably met, worked with and helped more non white people in life than most of those self righteous virtue signalers have. But I don't really care what those people think. They use the word as an attack weapon....frequently in the same way I use 'far left'.

I certainly have views on race that leads me to be angry with the left generally but the truth on these matters are actually far more highly nuanced and complex than the 'boo' 'hiss' nature of political forums tends to allow.

It's commendable that you've helped people in a paid, professional capacity. Yes of course words are words and deeds are deeds and giving anyone in leg up in life is to be commended.

If people are able to embrace and be genuine friends with other races in a personal capacity to my mind they clearly aren't racist to any meaningful extent. It may be that how you present your views here is not indicative of how you present them offline. That likely speak to the colour or lack thereof in the vicinity.

Truth and accuracy are important to me, far more important than ideology.

My opinions, in the main, have been formed and influenced and changed by evidence and a reasonable analysis of it....not by concern for how others might view them. Life has taught me that many people hold opinions out of expediency rather than of any real desire for accuracy on a matter.....Being correct about something rarely makes someone popular if the consensus differs.

History contains many lessons in life about how the popular ideas of one day turned out to be misinformed and simplistic. That, in my opinion, is still true today as it was then.

We will all hold opinions that are shadows of truth....We can only hope that we are less in shade than some others.

There are very many truths and life is as open or closed as you choose to make it. When your entire emphasis hinges on a very narrow zone embracing your own personal hangups, you kind of miss the point. There's truth to that too. Anyway, I'm off to watch the boxing.

'Entire emphasis', 'personal hangups', 'miss the point'.

Yep, you go and watch the boxing mate, this stuff is a bit beyond your simplistic opinions about others.

I've given up debating with the Stirling / Trolf tag team, people so imbalanced should be ignored

Soon as the Raheem Sterling issue was brought up I knew they be all over it like a rash with denial, and there they are regular as clockwork

Whatever you feel about Stirlingsays and Hrolf I'm afraid that you are just as bad even though your political beliefs are in a different direction

PP's attitude is a bit surprising, if he doesn't want to debate right wingers he's been doing rather a bad impression of the last few months.

No doubt when we get the update people like PP will be able to opt to exist safely in their own political bubbles......though you'd have thought that the bbs was far more suitable for that.
