Fair enough; I respect the gesture (it is bloody painful to read at times though).

Not that I have a problem with Nick, but for what it's worth I don't agree with his move regarding advertisers at all, and being that he's been banned from both sites now, I both feel bad for him, but also appreciate that you don't find yourself being banned from sites at both ends of the political spectrum without playing a part in that. As for my presense, I'm not looking to give the mods extra work as I appreciate that you chaps put in the hours. Not as though I ever created extra work to begin with.

It retrospect, I would say that deleting or locking threads when things kick off can be as much an act designed to restore civility than to censor as such, which was the concern. It's the crack of the whip. On my part at least I'll be endevouring not to create any situations when you need to use it, and will withdraw from back and forths that become lengthy and pointless.

I haven't heard from them upstairs that his complaints have had any detrimental effects on HOL at all so I'm guessing that the advertisers that he contacted just marked him down as a bunny boiler and ignored him

My problem with Nick was his constant use of the site as a party political broadcast and his endless accusations and name calling.
We all step out of line occasionally but his posting was getting to the manic stage.
It was all getting too nasty and confrotational back then.
I think that 90% of the site breathed a sigh of releif when he and his chums went and that is not to suggest that an echo chamber is desirable because you can see how that turns out on the other site.

I don't spend that much time in off topic areas of the BBS but the only person I know of getting banned from there is Willo and even that took years.
