There was no 'brain drain' in the 60's, a time of social enlightenment when it was a thrill to be young.

The older generation confuse 'brains' with economic movement particularly of the banking sector and associated property obsession;

We will hardly be shedding a tear over them, in fact it is a side of brexit we can live with.

Have you ever thought that a person more in tune with modern times would be more suitable in your role.

?

What a fecking cheek Steely....Have you ever thought you're going senile?

Care homes where all the staff are immigrants? I think you're getting carried away.

My Romanian neighbor works at one, perhaps it's unique.

Are you just making it up as you go?

The so called brain brain was indeed economic movement of professional classes and was due to the penal levels of taxation under the Labour governments.

I was there, were you?

Interesting comment from someone that doesn't have a clue what I do

I've known several care workers in my lifetime and none of them worked in care homes staffed entirely by immigrants.

I've never bought into this idea that people suddenly up and leave to save a few % on tax, the tax levels are the same as europe so they could go to Singapore Hong Kong or somewhere but then cost of living and other factors are much higher. If people had better opportunites to work elsewhere they would do that anyway regardless and employers can easily supplement the difference if they want to keep someone

America or Switzerland? Isle of Man, Jersey, Guernsey, Gibraltar, Dubai, there’s loads of places, and those who go to Singapore or Hong Kong earn so much the sums favour the higher living costs without the taxes here of whatever it would go to.

Loads of French instantly left France for London following Hollande’s tax rises. You buying into it doesn’t mean it doesn’t happen.

With the exception of Dubai those places are hardly large enough to provide a massive jobs market for UK emingres. THey are tax havens, but in the sense that people move their money there to avoid mainstream nations' taxes on the proceeds of investment. They also do it for privacy reasons (add Monaco and Switzerland to your list).

Interesting to read about the £2bn in fraudulent welfare claims. I wonder how that figure compares with the amount of tax avoided by corporations and individuals using legal loopholes?

Profit too high? Send yourself an invoice for services rendered from an offshore entity and instantly - no profits, no tax liability and all your cash is safely off-shore from where you can buy a nice house back in the UK.

This is Britain's financial services industry. Trickle down? More like flood out.

You don’t have to all go to the same place and although America isn’t a tax haven, it’s tempting to go. I don’t blame people who leave this for America.

There were about ten times the number of French people working in London as British citizens working in Paris. But that has little to do with tax and everything to do with the lack of jobs in France.
