My theory has always been that the government and judiciary used the headline celebrity perv cases to satisfy the lynch mob public and press so they didn't delve deeper into what has gone on in among the ruling classes.
The police have been used, once again, to do the dirty work.

Cool....though I tend to think that incompetence is always the first port of call over mischief.

There I go....I couldn't get a sentence out without mentioning alcohol.....back to the port.

Spacey is a predatory homosexual who has preyed on boys in the past but It's been hushed up & brushed under the carpet. If found guilty he should have his work visa revoked & be deported back to the USA.

Was Mick Jagger a 'predatory heterosexual' who preyed on young girls?

I'm willing to see the evidence on Spacey but I'm rather cynical about it all.

My brother used to be a community officer and was first at the scene in London when spacey was mugged in a park at night with his dog.

My brother said he had to nod along taking notes about it all but it was obvious what went down. Just yo mugged soliciting for male sex in the park.

Geezer is bang guilty, defo casting couch stuff going on at a minimum along with sex pesting the understudy.

Then again Hollywood has gone a bit Salem witch trials since Weinstein. Everyone is getting thrown on the pyre, classic deflection.

They're all at it.

He has past form & I doubt whether aging lothario Jagger pursued under age girls

I saw a documentary about 70's rock stars and famous groupies, as an aside several massive British ones were mentioned as having 13yo girlfriends. This was confirmed by other groupies including some of the underage girls. It was not considered as a big deal at the time and these women were not claiming to be victims.

I would imagine if they remade that program today it would have a different slant.

I know someone who worked for the BBC in that era if you were a pop star Top of the Pops was the show to get on you could have your pick as Jimmy Saville knew.

So it is quite possible that many stars of that era were at it probably because they didn't bother to ask the girls their ages.

This is not a defence of their behaviour more an observation of that period.

People love certainty, who doesn't.....clear delineated lines of 'this is right and this is wrong'.

I think most of us would be able to identify a sexual assault from a pass.....but to the media and someone making a claim the fact that 'you weren't there' gives them the potential freedom to present A as B and no one's the wiser and mud sticks.

Maybe Kevin Spacey was a Saville type figure who went around for decades abusing people without being officially discovered....but I'm cynical.....People love a witch hunt

The underage thing when it comes to famous people is also very grey. Young people will lie to get close to their idols....Idols want to get laid like everybody else.....Is it sensible? Do people always do the sensible thing? Does this make them a terrible person?

I worked with someone who told me, as a throwaway remark, that they liked young teenagers and it kind of repulsed me. If someone is out there deliberately targeting that demographic then it makes sense for society and fathers to protect.

Does this translate to Spacey being one of those people....Personally I don't think so but maybe I'm wrong.

There is good virtue signalling and money to be made out of Kevin Spacey.

Just had another thought about how public perception is very different from the sixties and seventies.

Take a look at the Beatles in A Hard Day's Night and especially the train scene coming down from Liverpool. The Beatles (twenty something men) end up chatting up a group of schoolgirls. I remember seeing the film in the cinema and not giving it a thought today that scene looks creepy.

Now of course it is fiction but that movie was made as a U certificate for a wider audience as possible which I think indicates that no one involved saw anything wrong with it.

It would not happen now.

Ah the sixties....the children of the generation that won the war.

And the last time we deserved the word 'Great' next to Britain.

Yup the good old days when everything was in black and white TV finished at midnight and we stood up for God Save the Queen in the cinema.

Actually I don't miss those days and whilst I grate my teeth at the younger generation I would rather a country where people challenge their "betters" then one where we accept the decisions because the person wears a white coat so they most know what they are doing.

Right, football time enough nostalgia.

All true of course....but we were top of the creative trees back then......This lot are a dilution.

Yep...come on Palace, three points to put pressure on those mid table teams.
