Tammy Abraham was decent, but still had problems, like it's normal for any 20 year old, and Abraham seems to me like an even better prospect than Solanke

Still don't know why we didn't go for Abraham. To be fair look at what happened with judas himself, bamford. But for every young player that fails there is one out there that becomes a breakthrough. I would rather get a young loan player like solanke than a tired old striker like Kevin Doyle, as we have done in the past

Might be something to do with his style of play? This article puts him down as a ‘fox in the box’ type of player? Fast, elusive, pounces on goal chances , etc? Let’s hope he is the missing piece of the puzzle? Certainly Sorloth or Ayew havn’t been? You’ve got to hope that Hodgson has said: get me this type of player...and they’ve come up with Solanke?

Is it really? Try telling that to AWB when he faces players like Sane

It is very hard to tell how Solanke would adapt if we signed him. Some attacking players like Mbappe or Jesus have the arrogance and the talent to walk straight in as teenagers and start scoring, but others need time to develop like Kane and Salah did and even Zaha. If it was a case of Sorloth out and Solanke in then I can see this makes sense as we would have Bentenke and Wickham as target men with Solanke being an alternative option from the bench. However, if we are banking on him being our saviour then that is a big ask and one I have my doubts he could fulfil.

Whatever the case he surely has to be an upgrade on the disappointing Ayew.

This. Yes. But that would still mean Benteke or Jordan Ayew need to be replaced with an accomplished forward

Surely nobody is going to take a punt with Tekkers, shot of confidence and coming back from a lengthyish lay off due to injury ? More likely in Jan he will be eased back in.

Oh, you'd be surprised how many Chinese or Turkish clubs there are out there....

Also, see this thread: [Link]

Sure, club wouldn't get what it paid for him, but keeping him more might mean his value dropping even lower

Solanke has played less minutes than Wickham has this season. I think he's a good player but I won't be pinning my hopes on him coming in and setting the world alight.

Sorloth hasn’t even been on the bench recently, and there are rumours he will go out on loan, so it could be Sorloth out and Solanke in? We would then have two main strikers (Neither of whom has worked out especially well) in a returned to fitness Benteke and Wickham, and an untried and non matchfit Solanke. We would then have 3 struggling strikers - and Ayew who we may be stuck with for the rest of the season. Just as well we are not in the drop zone! In fact, sad though it is to admit it, this is one of our best seasons since our return to the PL...

Yes obviously.

People are hard on tekkers. He works hard for the team and does everything but score. However his main advantage is the fact that he is a big old unit and can't be ignored. Opponents must play a CB of similar dimensions leaving gaps for our more mobile midfield and more clumsy challenges in the box etc.

Thus, goals, assists, err... no. Better results, maybe?

Solanke having medical. Apparently Hodgson knows him through playing for England. Surely it’s worth a gamble, can’t get any worse with the strikers we’ve got!?
