By deciding to play like that Roy showed a blatant disrespect to our players. It was him basically telling them that they were not good enough to mix it with Chelsea. I would rather had lost 3-0 3-1 having a go than play like that. We beat them last season having a go so ehat's changed?

I thought Palace were just too passive for most of the game.

It became almost like a training exercise in keeping the ball for Chelsea.

I understand Roy's argument that trying to play open football against Chelsea could lead to a heavy defeat, but once we went a goal behind I hoped for a more positive response.

I understand this as well but I am not advocating that we should adopt a gung-ho approach against a top 4 side.We just wanted more positivity, getting closer to their players, pressing them, in their faces a lot more and making it more difficult for them to play the ball around like a training ground exercise. The crowd would have responded and this could have helped the team.Instead we got a pathetic negative performance and never laid a glove on Chelsea.

Apropos a positive response, it is a tad difficult to change modes at a flick of a switch when we have got into a rhythym of dropping behind the ball, filling the spaces etc etc.For this to happen it needs a rasping a shot, an effort which the keeper saves etc etc to get the crowd going and to give confidence to the team that they can achieve something from the game.Sadly nothing really happened and we succumbed to a meek defeat. We lost without having a real go at them.

The interviewer said that Connor brought added firepower and some strength down the middle (which I think he did). Roy emphatically disagreed with that in a very blunt reply. I was quite shocked by the negativity of the reply. Don't think it was a very considered response and did, I'm afraid, remind me of some of those awful miserable press conferences when Roy was England manager.
I'm really not sure what to make of that. We're all hoping a striker will have a part to play going forward moving Wilf back to the wing where he is clearly happier. I got a very strong impression from Roy's comments that he is happy with the way we are set up, playing Wilf as a centre forward. Roy also wasn't remotely apologetic about the turgid performance against Chelsea instead said the team played the right way, which I find quite baffling.

Points to me that Solanke will get game time, that’s for sure.

Other clubs are interested in his services so it is by no means certain we will acquire him.

Spiderman, I should have expressed myself better. He's still not scored and for a player of his type that isn't really good enough. He risks becoming a luxury rather than an essential midfield cog.

Given how Schlupp made and took his chance so well against the Oilers it made sense for Roy to 'reward' him with a starting position. But maybe it was actually Roy playing a more defensive line up. God it was dire yesterday.

It was worse than that in my book.
We were all 'short changed' by dour negative tactics.Chelsea might not have an easier game all season, they never needed to break sweat to beat us.

I dont think i have ever seen a more passive display from a home team in the Premier League ever. If it had been a boxing match they would have witheld our purse. Not blaming the players at all it was totally down to Roy.

I am sure the players did everything asked of them and probably their training leading up to this game concentrated on what Hodgson wanted.Get behind the ball, stay disciplined, stay in shape, close the spaces, allow Chelsea to have the ball etc etc - It's a hard sell to the players.

We were fed a diet of utter dross.
