By that logic, Alf Ramsey was s*** because he subbed off Charlton against Germany and the team went on to lose the game. Or, maybe, it's Bobby Robson because the team failed to qualify for Euro 84 and were knocked out at the group stage in 88.

Whether you like him or not, Hodgson has an excellent overall record as an England manager.

Outside of tournaments he does. As a club manager he's decent too - there ain't anyone better out there far as I can see.

He got England to a quarter final, and did better than most other England managers in tournaments since Alf Ramsey: only Sir Bobby Robson and SGE have markedly better tournament records.

I might not like the football England played under Hodgson but like SGE, who was also routinely decried, his record is better than he is given credit for.

If you come to a fork in the road, take it.

Give over, pure whataboutary.

Statistics can be twisted to prove any point, no matter how ridiculous: 73% of people know that :-)

The majority of those games were against dogs' dinner teams like San Marino or whoever. I'd be confident that I could round up a few of the lads and manage a pub team to victory. Ramsey et al didn't have these rounds and rounds of lip-service games. Their stats might look worse, but are comparatively much better pound for pound.

By your logic, Alardyce is the greatest England manager of all time, 100% record after all...

Hodgson was well and truly found out and the only stats that reflect his time in charge are:

Iceland result.
World Cup 2014.
Kane on corners.

RH has a an excellent record as England manager.

Played 56, Won 33, Drawn 15, Lost 8.

From your link, these are the facts.

We do respect the manager here, and your comments are crude and disrespectful.

I suspected it, but it's clear you're simply trolling.

I happen to believe that this will be the reaction of supporters if Hodgson plays key players and Zaha, for instance, gets injured and is out for a while.

Of course he won't play them but ffs we should have enough in our fringe players to win. Let's not forget Grimsby play in League 2

That might be true if you were debating. But clearly, you are not. Stating "Iceland result. World Cup 2014.
Kane on corners." as though somehow this forms an argument is simply moronic. That's not throwing insults, it's describing behaviour.

Just pay him off the end of the season and say it's mutually agreed it's best for both parties. Club will have a big overhaul in the summer, I wouldn't be surprised if zaha Townsend and benteke all leave[/quote]

Unfortunately think you may be right, especially Wilf

No they didn't. We were ranked top ten, were they even top 100?

His record is dire. 3 wins from 11 tournament games.

I'll add Harry Kane on corners to complete the hat-trick of incompetence.

He said Iceland were the best team on the day, not they were a better team. I think your hatred of RH is well documented

First a troll, now this...

Classic deflection. Having quickly browsed through your previous posts on a range of topics it's clear that once you come up against a solid argument you move very quickly to "This isn't an insult, but [insert insult]"

Ironically, you prove my Socrates quote more than apt.

I don't hate Roy Hodgson, I actually back him as Palace's manager and think he's the right man for the job given the circumstances. I've commented previously on how the club is run, and how RH can be one dimensional. He hits his targets and has found his level.

I challenged the believe that he was a successful England manager. He wasn't. He was a disaster for the (as yet) unchallenged facts:

Harry Kane on corners
3 tournament game wins in 11 attempts
Iceland
World Cup 2014
