Turns out the youth team striker's gone to Östersunds FK in Sweden. They seem to be a good place for developing players (and staff like Graham Potter), with Ken Sema (Watford) and Saman Ghoddos (Amiens) being recent success stories - plus the career revivals of Jamie Hopcutt and Curtis Edwards.

Could be a good move for Baptiste. I wonder if Palace put a buy-back clause in his contract in case he does succeed?

I know we have AWB (which was a bit of a fluke, he'd never have got in the side without an injury crisis), it does make me wonder what actually is the point in keeping our academy open. We never bring anyone through any more and haven't done for years.

That's the problem with being a lower-Prem side, there aren't many chances to break through when the senior side is constantly battling relegation. Hopefully Hodgson can lay down the foundations for long term comfort in the league, because I have a feeling he might go this summer or next. And once the club are more comfortable in the league, we can start doing what sides like Everton do and give youngsters opportunities. I'd love to see one or two youngsters get a run out in the cup this weekend too. It's only Grimsby, give some kids a run out.

Wan-Bissaka, Zaha, Clyne, Moses, Watson and Routledge have all come through in the last 10-15 years and from the sounds of it we have a couple of very good prospects in there at the moment.

You say it was a fluke bringing through AWB because of an injury crisis but surely that's the whole point of it? You develop players and when they're given a chance they'll grasp it if they're good enough. I'd say bringing through a player every 2-3 years on average is a great return.
