I don't think Spurs have been too badly affected with their no activities in bringing players in and judging by our performances although inconsistent with actual results I personally see no real reason to bring anyone in at all.

Spurs offensively look great, just like Liverpool were last season. However defensively Liverpool have strengthened Spurs have not and that is why they are not top of the league. What I'm trying to say is that Spurs haven't gone any forward nor backwards as you say whilst Liverpool have. Feel if we are going to go forward offensively rather than stay at where we are at then I think we need to at least look at alternatives. Not a magic bullet but relying on an attacker/s finding some form within the club looks dangerous in terms of staying in the league. Roy's comment "we will have to work with what we have" I really hope is a cagey bluff.

Finances is a very important factor for us in comparison to Spurs and in order to bring somebody in who is up and running with hot scoring feet will undoubtedly cost a fair bit and a fair bit is not something we can honestly afford ..also if he is that capable he is going to want to go to a team that will create opportunities galore and compete strongly for cups and titles or a team very near to it....which we are not.

At the moment we still have to take a gamble on every player we buy as do all the clubs outside the top six that is a fact of life sadly.

Spurs could still very well win the league this season but Liverpool do look very able although they still have to play us at home! lol ..and they will not be looking forward to it!

Even if we did get Solanke his lack of matches would mean he's a good month from being fit enough to start in Roy's eyes

Solanke is not the answer. Desperate smoke and mirrors from the management.

If our transfers in the last January window are anything to go by then we should keep our powder dry. Put faith in those we have. They are certainly good enough to keep us up. Revisit in the summer. Would be delighted in we could offload Benteke to China

But while not scoring he does introduce the chasing pack by holding the ball very well, we at least need him for that.

I can only see us loaning in a striker in the Solanke mould - young and as such an unknown quantity.
Wickham is getting fitted and Benteke is due back.
Between ffp and Parish a massive spend is unlikely.

I'd like us to find a fantastic club for Sorloth until summer. Not just any club. Say a championship side with poor strikers and an outside chance of the playoffs. Maybe borrow Defoe for the same period. He might be handy late in a game and, even at his age, could nick a few if played alongside a big fella.

Maybe Sorloth would come back transformed after taking his loan club to the playoffs with all the euphoria and positivity that garners.

I still believe in the bloke and don't want another roll of the dice on somebody else who likely won't cut it.

I agree, loan out Sorloth if we can bring in a back-up striker. If he gets a chance to learn he could still be something decent, selling low would not be smart.
Ayew is going nowhere, and Wickham will be number 3 behind Tekkers, so Sorloth will never get a start.

Things are looking ok for staying up, and with Tekkers, Wickham and Dann about healthy we have much better cover. But Roy might be gone in the summer. If so, the new manager might be someone who will try out some young players. Roy likes his veterans, and safety first is the understandable motto. (Only exception being AWB who came in and has been pretty much flawless -had one off game last season and Roy brought Ward back in).

I just wish Hodgson would be a bit more open about transfer activity.
I don’t expect him to name actual names of targets.
However, he is so uncooperative at press conferences as if he’s doing a favour to impart information to the fans.
He was almost unwilling to agree that Solanke was a target until it was pointed out that Parish had already revealed the fact.
I hope he’s on ‘on board’ with any signings we do make otherwise I don’t expect them to be involved in first team squads any time soon.

what specifically would you like him to do? he's probably sat through thousands of press conferences and knows what you do and don't do pretty well. boring, repetitive, predictable and pointless questions are bound to get short shrift. I bet he hates press conferences more than any other part of the job, and fair dues.

I'm not even asking for much. One good goalscorer and maybe a winger. That's it. Play your cards right and you could get that for less than £15m. And if you need wages, cancel Ayew's loan, ship Mutch off to Cardiff and send Sorloth on loan to the Championship. That'll save you at least £100k a week on wages right there. Done.

Good premiership goalscorer and a winger for £15m? Behave.

A player with any track record of scoring goals at the top level will go for at least £25m, particularly in January. Solanke who has scored less than ten goals in his professional career just went for £20m!
