Some have though haven’t they? Last season we were playing teams at the worst time, whereas Brighton were playing teams at the best time. Let’s be honest, Burnley, Leicester and Cardiff whonwe failed to score against were all pretty bad. Chelsea weren’t very good either where our last 10 minute effort wasn’t enough compared to vs Wolves and I wasn’t impressed with Wolves last night either. Sure against Man City we can heap praise on Roy’s tactics and use of the team but in all those others the opposition were poor, of that there’s no doubt. I’d take that all day long apart from that unless we start taking teams on more or looking for a win before 80 minutes we’ll be relying on the opposition being poor or poorer to people win the points, although I suppose that’s the thing. It worked v Wolves and not v Chelsea so that’s 3 points from those 2 and 1.5 points per game, which is how we were sometimes on the right side of these fine margins Roy plays. It worked wonders last season but this season it’s been frustrating, and you cannot deny that last night could easily have been 0-0 or 1-0 to them so he’s setting up to ride the fine margins and hopefully stay up. Music to Parish’ ears if he doesn’t quit if Parish doesn’t provide transfer funds, but very disappointing for fans who go to certain matches or see that the Chelsea match was there for a point plus a push for maybe 3 rather than very little endeavour and maybe a half chance.

It’s not pretty and it can work, but playing for that maybe chance carries risks and frustrates supporters no end to the point they start thinking is it worth being there if you can watch this kind of football and every game in your armchair.

I wouldn’t be surprised if Parish has offended Roy an extension. Whether Roy wants it is another matter. Parish probably has no idea who our next manager shouldvor could be and probably neither do the ex players by his side.

Yes I agree, but we certainly would not of been one game away from a final with any of our previous setups.

We’ve also played some good attacking stuff in some games and not been fully rewarded. Arsenal and spurs at home and Utd away could have easily yielded more points had we had a bit of luck or indeed a goal scorer. We certainly Didn’t setup just to stifle the opposition in those games and I wouldn’t say it was dull or boring. It’s impossible to play well every week, against Chelsea we had an off day and probably suffered from having played against a physical Cardiff side and chasing the ball continuously against a City team that move the ball so quickly.

The criticism from some quarters that the football is dull and boring seems a bit harsh to me. Under Roy we’ve played some of the best football I have ever seen at Selhurst. The end of last season in particular where some of the stuff we played was a delight.
