You've got to tell us! Probably poor staff and/or service, poor communication skills and probably being left without regular checking to see if anything is required. It doesn’t take much for something like this to be spoilt so I wouldn’t be surprised if we couldn’t get it right. Imagine if the car parking wasn’t allocated or the car park hi viz jacket doesn’t or can’t let someone in with their car or there’s a foul up at reception and it doesn’t get any better from there. Don’t be surprised, there’s never any hot food or cold drinks for us normal ticket plebs at the first match of the season.,

We certainly are. They have a new stadium, a top class academy, superior facilities and a wealthy owner who's prepared to put his hand in his pocket. They aren't maxed out on wages and their team didn't cost anywhere near what ours has cost. They also hand out free clappers to make an atmosphere and about 50% of them support Brighton as their second team. Let’s see if they finish above us this season. Palace are doing well. The books are a little unbalanced with some salaries too high, but we are holding our own and are a solid mid table team. We have some major assets with Zaha and Wan Bissaka. How about looking at all the teams who have actually gone backwards since we returned to the Premier League - Sunderland, Hull, Villa, Middlesborough, Swansea....

Seeing as we’re always saying how any of 13-14 teams can go down then we really should be measuring ourselves on what we’d be and what we’d do if or when we’re relegated. I’m not confident in how we’d do once the mega Prem bucks have vanished.

It was a year or two ago now, but it was terrible. The problem, as far as I see it, is that we spend loads of money on some things, get lovely facilities and free drink and then cut corners on others. It is the bits we cut corners on that lets everything else down. I would rather pay another £25 per head and get a proper corporate experience.

Since 2010 took over, at Selhurst we've upgraded the floodlights, the pitch (a couple of times) and drainage/heating, the TV/broadcasting/media facilities, the hospitality in the main stand (Speroni's/lounges etc) have all been updated, as have the exec boxes in the Whitehorse, we've got rid of all the old wooden seats and I think the dressing rooms etc have been sorted as well? We've brought in electronic turnstiles which (despite much moaning on day one) seem to work well, and we have tried new catering options (in the upper tier at least) even if people aren't still that happy with them. We've just acquired a long-term lease for the academy site, and while the main stand development is still in limbo, we have at least put together and submitted proper plans? I agree there are still major issues with things like scouting in particular, but I imagine this is where we've been a bit hamstrung by not having a settled manager and DoF for a proper period of time. Hopefully that is changing, but it can't help when Pardew comes in and says he wants to change everything and then we have to get rid of him, Allardyce comes in and then leaves within six months etc. I do think it's very, very unfair to say that nothing has changed though. Anfield an interesting comparison given a) some people's experiences of it: [Link] and b) the years (decades?) of planning a new stadium that then didn't happen before building the new main stand there. These things don't just happen overnight, and I do think Palace have definitely been ticking things off where we can. You forgot the gates. Frankly all minor things that should have been done years ago. Comparing it to always since my first match in 79. In fact, it used to be better for tea, Bovril and pies and higher attendances with the standing.

Still, we’ve got a nice office we rent off Parish’s company called ‘Smoke and Mirrors.’

The fact is that I can’t trust Palace to look after my clients, but it was not Parish’s fault. Parish has done wonders for Palace, but they are failing at the basics. I now go to Wembley where the football is sterile but the hospitality is decent, and to away games where the football is decent and I can support Palace.

He couldn’t stress enough how corporates is the way forward, it’s up to him to make others make sure they deliver. I can forgive it happening on The Apprentice given its their first day, but not us. But it is us so what do we expect?

We are Premier League and we should strive to be Premier League in all that we do. However, we would not be Premier League at all without 2010, and it is a good point well made that they are correcting years of under investment. So we should not be too critical.

If we went down this season, what would it have been all for? Are we any better off than August 2012? The wage bill would have to be slashed big time, the playing staff - a lot would be asking to move or give us one season chance, even then, we would need to slash the wage bill again if we didn't go up. 6 years in prem didn't get us a better academy set up, training ground/facilities or stadium. We are, however, 9th highest for out goings - wages. Whilst i do not expect us to be 18th - 20th in regards to wages, 13-16th would be practical with us finishing the season around 10-12th, due to smart investment and youth. Once Pardew came in, Benteke then Sakho - no doubt they are quality signings, well, Sakho is still showing this.. but honestly, were they the only answers? Did we really need Sakho, was there no one else out there? anyways, it's all hearsay, it is what it is and i personally think we are wasting, again, glorious oppertunities to move the club forward
This was once a quality forum.... |

Our lads at the top are taking high salaries until our time in the premier League is up and then they'll asset strip from there. The main stand, I suspect, will never happen. Smoke and mirrors is absolutely spot on. Edited by ChrisGC (05 Jan 2019 9.07am)

Can not believe Mutch turned out so badly. He was decent at Cardiff but clearly QPR took our pants down
