I think it's fair to describe some of MW's other views as controversial.

However, they weren't the subject of the talk.

Just to let you know, Woes regards art college..in our modern era anyway... as useless.

So he does have something interesting to say then?

Have you a link or must I return to the dark side?

I've only recently started watching MW stuff......There is actually what I thought was a quite entertaining, 'art college was awful' stream he had with a guy called 'Dangerfield' recently....I'll have a look.

Hang on....found this where Woes talks exclusively about art college....haven't watched it though.....So I don't know what's in there.

Struggled to watch up to 1:50. He is f***ing dull and seems to rate his self quite highly as a art student

I have prepared one of my own time capsules. I have placed some rather large samples of dynamite, gunpowder and nitroglycerin. My time capsule is set to go off in the year 3000. It will show them what we are really like.

Blimey.....what are you after a political Chris Rock or something?

What political commentators do you watch then? Must be pretty exciting stuff.

(quickly googles Chris Rock)

Well I'll watch this but only because I also went to art school so I'm interested in what he has to say on the subject.

Chris Rock is a funny guy......Dangerfield is probably more entertaining than Woes....If you're looking for entertainment (which is no bad thing) their discussion on it is probably better.....but if you want a more reflective criticism then perhaps Woes stand alone vid.

Essentially I think they are saying that at its core art college should be a great thing but that its modern version is far too political and that for today's world is a waste of time in regards to most employment chances.

Before having watched it, which I will, I should say that anyone doing an art degree and hoping for a job as an artist having completed it, is by definition a bit of a wally.

For what it's worth, which admittedly isn't very much, I agreed with practically every word.

Don't knock yourself, right or wrong your perspective is your perspective.

Which video did you watch?

I could have been a great artist....I only had one problem......no one else agreed with me.

The art school video you posted.

I never had any intention of becoming an artist before I went to art school to do a degree. I wanted a degree because I figured that it might be useful when applying for work and that some employers wouldn't care too much that it was only a qualification in how to draw pictures.

When I found work in Budapest I needed a degree in order to get a work permit so it did finally come in handy. But actually a friend of mine just created a degree certificate on a word processor and of course they never checked to see if it was real. So actually mine wasn't that important.

But like the students who Colin Robertson mentions who had jobs whilst taking their degrees who just wanted to be independent, I had a job and was more or less independent.

Another reason I did a fine art degree is that you didn't need any A levels, I left school without any.
