I'm sorry you feel this way.

I haven't called you a liar or questioned your integrity, I used one word: whopper. I do find your reaction to this inoffensive word fascinating.

Good standing is a term used to describe somebody's position in regards to payment received or outstanding of subcriptions or fees. It's commonly mistakenly attributed to a personal trait, which I think is similar to what's happening here.

My opinions, backed with reason are being taken personally, when they shouldn't. Any counter should be weighed against facts.

You talk about giving both barrels, but I'm not breaking any of the forum rules so I would discourage you from this as I wouldn't like you to get yourself in trouble.

I think you probably did:

Definition of whopper
1 : something unusually large or otherwise extreme of its kind
2 : an extravagant or monstrous lie

I have not ever broken the forum rules and don't need discouraging from doing so.

Sadly, wiki isn't an encyclopedia: how I long for the days of encarta!

"Status of a firm (or member of an organisation) which is current with the payment of statutory dues." is the original intention of the phrase.

I have no doubt that your character is held in nothing but high esteem on this forum, despite how we differ in our view of the moral implications of prioritising seat allocation.

Just because I believe a fib has been told, and I've yet to see anything to challenge that belief, it doesn't mean I believe the teller is a liar as a character.

That's why I used the word whopper, rather than accuse someone of being a liar. As it is improbable that the person in question's statement that they circumvented an official reallocation by phoning Steve Parish directly and 'being persuasive', nor have we any evidence to support this other than a defensive response, I see no need reason for offence to be taken or for my use of the word 'whopper' to be deemed insulting or inappropriate.

Well I took offense. And you are still implying that I lied.

You seem to have set out to create offense since joining this site and continue to do so.

Just suck it up, wind your neck in and try to understand others on the site.

An apology would have been in order. Instead you continue with your nonsense about 'good standing' and any other way to justify yourself.

By the way, you said: Good standing is a term used to describe somebody's position in regards to payment received or outstanding of subcriptions or fees.

That is not what you are now saying. Your current point appears to relate to historic use. Even if you are correct about the original use of 'good standing' - about which I am not sure - it is certainly not how the term is used now. I gave you two quotes from different sources.

I did say I was sorry you felt that way and regarding what's in bold, that isn't the case. I'm still saying exactly that.

We've got off topic here, so in summary:

I don't believe that you called Steve Parish and persuaded him not to move you and I'm against the club caving to the boycott.
You support the club's allocation of certain rows in block E as a singing section and feel it's going to great for the club.

Both of the above are personal opinions and do not reflect either person's character and should be equally respected.

We have a chat room here [Link] where forum members can wave their handbags at each other without trying to dominate threads with personal arguments that are absolutely of no interest to anyone else.

No more personal digs on this thread please

Very well

I believe I have previously stated that if anyone of the Block E 400 wants me to explain to them what I have done in order to stay put they are welcome to PM me. That offer still stands.

Having stood in the singing section against Grimsby, I felt it worked quite well but I don't think that is all there is. When we have a normal league game in my opinion the influence of the singing section will be felt more.

I didn't have a strong view before this year but I now believe the HF is correct. It was going backwards and not progressing and required a shot in the arm. To me it has become even clearer what a difference it makes.

On the other hand, as I state in the very first post on this thread, the process of setting up the singing section and moving all singers has been handled very poorly. I feel extremely sad about that, knowing many people who have no choice other than to move away from people they have sat with for 23 years. They are also walking away from emotional memories. I hope, but don't trust, that they will move to seats that are good albeit there aren't better seats in the ground than E Block in my opinion. In talking with HF people, they feel similarly.

I don't agree with the many haters of the HF on this site. They have been measured and thoughtful throughout.

Good post. As stated in one of my previous posts on this subject, having met some HF before Grimsby and sat in the singing section, I think they have the club at heart but they do need to try to keep the singing to songs everyone knows and can join in.
Having said all that I too have sympathy for those that have to move. I also feel perhaps the whole club needs a shake up

They also need to adapt to what others are doing.

They are useless at joining in with spontaneous singing. I suspect they must have a play list to which they stick.

A "play list", I've heard it all now.

Why don't you scrounge a ticket inside the HF area some time and see what the experience is like.

It's very well organised and a great laugh.

I am sure there will be a singing section for the Spurs game

Or do you just want to stand on the side and snipe?

Mapletree is still using a long term season ticket purchased during Simon Jordan's tenure. Therefore I have every reason to believe that he could (and has been able to) persuade those in charge at CPFC that he should be allowed to stay within the area to be designated the Singing Section.

After all, a 50% discount on next years season ticket is of no use to him, as he has already paid for next years season ticket!

The SS is circa 400 seats, more than enough to accommodate all of the HF, and then still have room for him.
