That is what the Premier money has done. Big clubs are far more guilty hoovering up all the best young talent with money bribes to parents, mainly to stop competitors getting them. Its all about winning now, managers wont risk putting in a youngster, no matter how good they are Chelsea and Man City have many examples. They pay them good wages to play reserve football, its crazy as they become millionaires without playing in the first team.
AWB was an exception, who just happened to adapt very well, if it wasn't for Wards and Kelly being injured he wouldn't on seen the first team.

Got to agree, seems very shortsighted. Given our catchment area and history of producing good youth players that go on to have good careers (if not always prestigious), it's really a failure of 2010 only to have AWB to boast of from 6 years in the top flight. Like you say, his chance came because the stars aligned!

I'd like to see investment in the setup so we achieve the highest rank possible for youth football short term and a commitment to bringing them on. Why not have a formal policy of if you get professional terms you have to go out on loan immediately for a season? Do these kids the world of good, especially the advantages of experiencing different footballing cultures around Europe.

RLC can't get into the Chelsea team
Nya can't get into ours
The problem is similar, there is always someone with more experience to come on for the last 20 minutes when you need experience.

The answer is to take the risk but what manager will seriously risk it

Giving youth a chance has to be in the ethos of the club.

With Puncheon gone (sadly) then Nya must play if we need to attack and jaïro if we need to defend

And maybe that’s what the plan is? Getting rid of the deadwood to make way for the youngsters like Nya and Jairo

While he'd almost certainly play, I'm not sure if League One is the best place for him to gain experience. Lowest level I'd like to see him at would be the Championship, or maybe seeing if any clubs on the continent e.g. Germany would want to take a chance, as it's done wonders for other players who've gone out there (see: Jadon Sancho, Reiss Nelson). The only concern regarding Germany though, is if they want him permanently. Palace already lost Mandela Egbo that way.

I'm not sure how anyone who doesn't watch him in training can make a call on what level he needs to play at?

If the club feel he's not ready to play in the Championship then there isn't much point in sending him to a club where he won't play regularly.

Employee of the month is a good example of how someone can be both a winner and a loser at the same time.

Good move. Bit of physicality in that league and won’t be having his hand held. If he is as good at football as everyone says, by the end of the season he will have begun to shine at that level and can make a step up.

Joined Blackpool at a time when they have lost 4 of their last 5 league games and play in front of crowds often not that more than 3,000.In fact in their last home game, against Sunderland, there were more away supporters than home in the crowd of nearly 11,000.

I am sure you understand why Pool's home crowds are so low. Hopefully some movement on our situation soon and the fans can come back. On another note, Newcastle have been praising Blackpool for bringing on Sean Longstaff last season. Kirby certainly won't be molly-coddled and if he is any good it will help him in the long run. We're feeling Glad All Over lol

I am aware of the antipathy of the supporters towards the ownership and the effects this has had on attendances.

Not sure that's a good idea. Hear on the grapevine they're about to go into administration with a 10 or 12 point deduction.

Hopefully once we’ll secure our Premiership status with a few games to spare we can start to phase him in then. It’s difficult and high risk at the moment. Perhaps get him on the bench for the next round of the cup and get him if we’re comfortably ahead

Think the draw has beaten us on that account. Perhaps a later round then or the end of the season ? As said it is too big a gamble to chuck a youngster in, unless there is really no real alternative within the squad, normally due to injury.

Not necessarily a bad thing, made a man of some of our youngsters like Clyne.
