Investment for what - players ?

If Parish was to attract further investment for that purpose only, would you be confident that the money would be well spent ?

think it works on a rolling 3 years, just checked on our transfers from 2013/14 till now we have spent 180million more than whats come in after players being sold, so the board has invested hence we cant spend big at the moment

Smarter spending is what we need. The size of our wage bill compared to the number and quality of players on it is an absolute embarrassment.

Funny how different the landscape would look if Benteke had not been injured so much and forgot how to play football at the same time. If he had continued where he left off from his first season it would all be so different now. What a masterstroke paying the £30m would have been.

This is true but he could also have been injured so there’s a lot of eggs in one basket there. Having Wickham injured as well is unfortunate but you really have to have a third capable striker or scout players better so if we needed to bring one in we could afford better.

There was indeed a mistake made by selling Murray. He could’ve been kept and played half the league games. When you look and see the planning around that time it was shocking. Wickham, Gayle, Murray, Bamford was the pecking order I think although there’s no point loaning in Bamford if there’s no chance of him playing. We then brought in Adebayor. Not that long after we sold Gayle. The planning, scouting and analysis of plenty of things and players we’ve brought in has been shocking. The Murray one by Brighty, Parish’s first go to man, others by Pardew or Freedman, more people in the job because of history over experience.

Schlupp - £13 million, 55k p/w wages.
Riedewald - £7 million, 55k p/w wages.
Sorloth - £9million, 30k p/w wages.
Wickham - £9 million, 60k p/w wages.
Benteke - £30 million, £120k p/w wages.
Jach - £2.5 million, 20k p/w wages.

None of those look like wise spending. Also, rumours are that Meyer is on anything up to £170,000 p/w. A player who doesn't fit our system and rarely makes the team.

Thing is, people ask why have the american investors got away with no stick - simple, they have done nothing wrong.

Parish had an agenda, he wanted to offload some shares while the takings were hot - he and the board got a nice pay packet - like the plan was all along - to buy the club, stabilise it and sell on.

Thing is, parish got backers involved, but parish still runs the show and the americans are doing exactly what were asked of them and what they are prepared to do - they are obviously getting something back from this and even if they were not.. it's small change to them and probably written off by their other companies.

If we were to go down this year, we would have naff all to show for it... embaressing..no...shameful really.

Football is now big business with all the money floating about. Some people still have quaint ideas about people doing it for the love of the game. They need to wake up a smell the coffee about how football has changed.

You have to say.....that's a lot of money spent on very moderate to poor returns.

Some footballers just don't justify the money spent on them.....as they say, you are worth what you negotiate....and that negotiation isn't always accurate.

so player on a free who we dont know what he is being paid (daily mail rumors), who slowly linking with the forward line, whos young enough to develop into a good player lets not keep him no lets give up on him because you know best ,have we tried to play to his skills like we do with wilf?,we dont even do that with Wilf

as i said about Teke didnt see him stop scoring, tell us who would you buy to replace the others,2 have gone one may go,wickham was a small risk couldnt see major injury which happened not a old injury, schlupp hit and miss but who would you buy to replace him,

so we have 7 players that are current first team from wise spending, mistakes or chances will be made all clubs do them

We are rarely in a good negotiating position, e.g. putting all our eggs in the Benteke basket, trying to haggle, ending up paying full price at the very end of the window, or emergency buying in January, e.g. Schlupp.
