What a bunch of pathetic nonsense. If whatever so called evidence was presented at a court of law it would not be given the time of day. People are so quick to condemn and berate nowadays. Just another step down the line towards society becoming a bunch of fearful and paranoid automatons. Sadly I actually believe many would welcome it! And there was a time when the British could laugh at themselves and take things with a pinch of salt!

A private party where a picture is taken by someone who may or may not have been the butt of a joke amongst friends gets released into the social media and that is sufficient to be deemed to seriously bring the game of football into disrepute. It is crazy. So, did John Terry bring the game into disrepute for shagging Bridges wife? Did Pulis bring the game into disrepute for trying to steal millions off Palace? Did Ronaldo for not paying taxes? There are many many instances of both crass and criminal behaviour by footballers that is obviously not considered by the FA to be as bad as what Wayne did.

The only people bringing the game into disrepute is the FA. I doubt very much if it is in FA rules that you cannot make any hand gesture that may be deemed offensive whilst out with friends on a non official team gathering not in club uniform. Most people had forgotten about it, but they have dragged it all up again, therefore causing more offence to people who missed it first time. What an earth they hope to achieve is beyond me.

What is the level of proof required by the FA to find someone guilty. Is it proved beyond a shadow of doubt as in the High Court, balance of probabilities as in the County Court or we say you're guilty therefore you are? If it's the FA, I'd say Option 3 every time.

It didn't 'get released', it was posted by one of the people involved, on a public website/app, the sole purpose of which is to share your photos with the world. It's not like someone has had their phone hacked here.
Employee of the month is a good example of how someone can be both a winner and a loser at the same time. |
