What amazes me is why anyone would risk their whole career and reputation over a speeding ticket

Chris Huhne resigned his seat and I think pleaded guilty.

I believe that the long-established maxim in these circumstances is: "One rule for us and one rule for them".

She got 3 months in jail

[Link]

In fairness to the Labour party they have asked her to do the honourable thing and resign. As I said in a previous post she will have to be dragged from the Commons.

As her jail sentence is less than 1 year she is not automatically barred from being an MP. What a joke most employers would sack you even if you got a suspended sentence. Still one rule for them.

Assuming that she continues to draw that lovely money from the taxpayer I expect that members of the house will move to dismiss her. Mind you with Brexit taking up all the time this may not be for a while.

Now even if she does resign today she should have done this last year.

The woman is a complete disgrace and has no shame and will keep milking it to the end.

Academic anyway. Of course this selfish cow is as likely to get put away for a year as Eric Cantona was and for the same reasons.

Because Eric Cantona was the MP for Peterborough?

Wife beating may be socially acceptable in Sheffield, but it is a different matter in Cheltenham

How has her brother, who isn't an MP, isn't a solicitor and didn't commit the actual driving offences they both lied about, got 7 months more than her?

Optimistic as ever

And he pleaded guilty, so should get a bit of mitigation. Must have plenty of previous.

If you're old or female you get a lesser sentence.
