A common sense post prevails , let’s blame the board for saving the club, getting promoted and staying in the PL for six season (securing a 100 m investment) and all the other behind the scenes things that have been achieved to reverse the years of decline and under investment. I wouldn’t claim or shout about that until it happens because it may not. So far it’s just nice pictures.

I've never advocated sacking Roy Hodgson, I challenged the fawning of a few who seek to promote him as one of the best England manager of all time now that he's our manager. I've been critical of his inflexibility in games, unclear tactcs behind substitutions and their timing. I agree that the board is to blame and echo your surmise, although that said I'm actually encouraged by this window because for once it looks like there's a strategy: clearing out the dead wood and getting the wage bill down. The overall model appears to be to tread water which I personally think is the wrong approach long term, but I suppose that's a different debate.

Performances wise we are and have improved apart from a few games like home Southampton ..although we still in that game had opportunities with our old keeper McCarthy motm to stop us, so I feel to say we are just treading water is unfair to the club.

Unfortunately there appears to be no ambition. A pity, because this part of the world has a lot to offer. I suspect Parish wants off. The new stand will never happen, and the fact that the playing staff is being reduced says it all.

It’s a bit of both. In Hodgsons post game comments he seemed to me to have a dig at parish and freedman over transfers. You have to wonder about someone like Meyer, he clearly isn’t fancied by the manager so why did we sign him? Parish thought, it’s a free, so no downside. What would be better would be giving the manager the players he wants to play in his side, As for Hodgson he really is a mixed bag. He is terribly predictable and just cannot make decsisve personnel or tactical changes during games which is terribly frustrating as we lose points from winning positions time and again.

I'm not really against Parish/the board or Hodgson and think we are doing ok and but for a bit of luck would be a place or two higher; however, Hodgson in his diplomatic way has clearly alluded to the fact that the club pick the players that are signed and he increasingly seems to be distancing himself from the transfer side of things. He also seems to be showing signs of frustration that we are shipping people out but not bringing any in. I am curious as to what the club's long-term plan is? Are we looking to sign players to fit Roy's game plan (Sako fits that bill) or are we clearing the decks with one eye on the summer and a new beginning, possibly under a new manager? At Roy's age he is not going to be building a football dynasty at Palace, so perhaps the club think we have enough to consolidate this season? If no one gets injured we probably have, but it's a risk and I feel for Roy that since coming in he has seen little investment in the squad. Apparently there are issues around broadcasting contracts which is a big reason why clubs have been less active this January, and is possibly another reason why we've been quiet.
