I know some people hate Roy's tactics, but last season it was why no one below us beat us and it's getting back to that way. Southampton barely had a sniff and we shut Fulham out. Schlupp still looked lazy tracking back, but all credit to him, going forward he seems to pop up in the right places. Ayew was a real pain in the ar*e for Fulham, constantly harassing their back four and I thought he did well without ever looking like scoring; however, Batshuayi came on and instantly reminded us what a quality striker looks like. Not a great game, but we looked solid.

Well, this was a must-win and you have to say Fulham made it easy for us - they were awful. Feeling much more optimistic for this season now that we've got Batshuayi and Benteke looked good on his return too. Yeah Fulham made it easy alright but I still think it was a lackluster performance by us. For me Tomkins and Sakho were great and Tekkers put in a shift too. We need lots of work on corners and free kicks. Grateful for the win though.

Brilliant result, we certainly didn't bottle it and look to have so many options now. Feels very much like a defining result for this season. Feels like we can kick on from here.

They didn’t have a shot on target. We are a nightmare for teams like Fulham as they don’t know how to even begin to break us down - that said if mitrovic doesn’t contrive to miss a free header from 6 yards out with their first attack, it could have been different. Defensively we are generally pretty good. For the first 60 minutes we were pretty hopeless coming forward, so many bad passes, bad flicks, misplaced touches. MacArthur is many things but he is not a winger so not sure what he was doing out there several times. In Luka and MacArthur we have 2 solid pros but there is no guile or creativity there at all. We looked better once Meyer came in there and started to play some neat passes.
