I seem to remember one of the major things SP said when he took over Palace is that he would make sure we lived within our means and not `gamble` with the clubs future as others have done before him, something that seemed core to him at the time and ive seen nothing really that seems to contradict that.

The other thing that he said was that he was an unwilling custodian of the club and would sell it on if someone suitable appeared.

How Bournemouth continue to spend as they do is beyond me. Even with TV money, with their gates it just can't be sustainable.

It is sustainable as long as the owner is willing to pump money into the club and if they breach FFP rules they just pay the fines which are smaller than the loss of revenue from relegation

So far as I understand it, Parish is not the majority shareholder or indeed a 100% shareholder whereby he can make such decisions in relation to selling the club on.His shareholding is 18% - he could of course sell these shares and depart.

It's vital that we take on board what our friends on the south coast have to say. They have been living within their means for years now. Except for the third of a billion pounds that their owner has put in, obviously.

The point that I was making was that this was a statement that he made when he took over the club and he and his cohorts could have sold out to a suitable buyer instead of selling a minority of the shares to the Americans thus remaining in day to day control of a company that he said he didn't want to do.

Brighton...doing it the right way! The irony isn't lost on many outside of the BN postcode area.

Their obsession with out attendance figures appears to have shifted to an obsession with our finances? It always was a unique rivalry, I suppose

I see the point you are making.

Rightly or wrongly I don't get the impression that Parish is a reluctant day-to-day controller who has an over-riding desire to relinquish his reponsibilities ! Quite the oppposite, with Parish delighted to be in the limelight and increasing his profile ! But of course I might be totally wrong.

I don't think so, I think it's just a fine.

A points deduction would be a much better idea but probably far too late by the time accounts are seen.

Somehow I don't think that you are

Peter Crouch was once asked what he would have been if he wasn't a footballer and he replied "a 40 year old virgin" and along similar lines I wonder whether Steve Parish would have been dating celebrity girlfriends if he wasn't the high profile chairman of a Premiership footie club
