I agree with you, and I like Meyer. I just don’t think Roy does or will. Maybe another manager will.

Jedinak and Murray took time but fitted, and I could see why Freedman bought them. The jigsaw just wasn’t ready and Jedinak was a skinny and Inaccurate passer. But Meyer will always be small. It’s whether that’s ok for the manager. Doesn’t look that way with Roy.

Villa. Failed. Spent too much trying.

Leeds. Failed. Spent too much trying.

Your expectations are huge, based on having a new stand and 35,000 ground. Won’t everyo else? Or much more?

7th is an achievement. Being never in danger of relegation also. Only being taken over by someone willing to make the whole ground new and pump loads of money in will get people expecting 5th at times.

In 10 years, I doubt there will be the Premier in its current format. The big 6 will have gone on to a Euro League, which they want or the TV money bubble will burst.
Even if it is the same, I don't expect us to still be there, good times at Palace don't generally last long.
Just enjoy the stay whilst it last and don't expect too much, then you wont be disappointed.

I was just pointing out that unless you’re a massive pessimist on a come down occasionally finishing 5-8th from 2029 onwards is a good thing to aim for, and, with the right plans in place, achievable. TBH, I am worried but I feel we one of the few clubs that actually abide by the FFP.

It would seem that UEFA can't be bothered about them (probably if you can give Aleksander Čeferin a bung).

OK. Maybe 5th is a bit aggressive. 6th-9th as ‘in and around’. I still think that’s more than reasonable to aim for. I certainly don’t think their 10 year projections will be far off that as an aim.

With our current approach of gradual improvement it’s possible. It’s certainly something to aim for.

Its not my general outlook, but supporting Palace for many years makes you a realist where they are concerned. The best team we have had over the last 50 years finished 3rd, then within 2-3 years managed to implode and get relegated.
