This is pretty much the same kind of ill-informed nonsense you find all over Trump supporting groups in the USA, being fed to them by Fox and Breitbart and parroted by Trump himself.

It just isn't true. The US economy has been on an upward curve for several years and was started during the Obama administration. Economies take years to react to stimuli and Trump's impact is only now taking effect. The markets are down as a consequence as nervousness overtakes optimism.

Why? His tax cuts have added hugely to their debt without trickling down into the economy as they enrich the wealthy and not the poor. His tariff wars worry markets and hurt consumers. All of this whilst ignoring climate change and consequently storing up huge problems for future generations.

The man is not just brash. He is also narcissistic, ignorant and dangerous.

This post is all hot air and speculation with zero substance.

Hit me with some facts. Oh no, you can't because you have nothing to back up your ridiculous assertions that are full of hatred of an individual.

A quick Google will confirm literally everything he said. Trumpism is an ideology borne of hate, of fear & of backlash against an amorphous, poorly-defined ‘elite’ (which ultimately boils down to ‘people who don’t agree’). Standing against that has nothing to do with hate and everything to do with common, human decency. Do better.

Give me some facts to back up your claims. Otherwise you're just spouting an opinion "borne of hate, of fear".

It doesn't. Opinion pieces by the guardian and CNN don't count.

The facts are that employment across the board is at a record high and the stock exchange at record value.

Trumpism isn't a real thing, it's a construct of his opponents.

Standing against Trump has nothing to do with human decency, it's personal bias: which you are justly entitled to. You don't like him or his policies and that's fair enough.

This post has been merged from a topic called 'Trump's wall. $5.8 is peanuts to the US economy' by Penge Eagle

Surely this is a paltry amount to the US economy?
How is this relatively small amount causing a Government shut down? You would have thought they could just reallocate some defence spending which is huge.

Title should read $5.8 billion.

Yep, it's a paltry 0.11% of federal spending.

The shoutdown has ended and was more about peacocking than policy.

The Dems are claiming victory, which seems correct on the face of it. I've not seen a reliable poll (does one exist?), but some are claiming Trump's approval was hit, others Pellosi's.

Trump gave ground due to the air traffic controller "sick" strike (supposedly), although he could have just fired (no rehire) them like Reagan did.

Personally, I think it was mission accomplished for Trump. He doesn't want to deliver boarder security too quickly as he'll use this for his 2020 push along with the anti-socialism card as signalled at the SOTU address. The Dems look obstructive long term, Trump's bid for 2020 strengthens, his popularity wasn't at risk among his own, nor was it in danger of increasing from the left.

Pellosi missed a couple of tricks to cash in and take advantage public perception wise, instead she took a couple of personal cheap shots. The Dems fell into the trap of having leisure time during the shut down whilst trump made sure he was seen to be working hard...

You’re right that ‘Trumpism’ isn’t a stand-alone thing, it’s part of a much broader, nastier populism funded by a small group of people that includes - but is not restricted to - Brexit. In the American context, however, there is absolutely utility in referring to Trumpism.

When your policy includes separating children from parents and putting them in cages, quietly removing sanctions on Putin allies, stacking important regulatory bodies such as the EPA and FCC with industry stooges, and removing tax deductions from the poor so that private jets become deductible, then yes, opposing Trump is absolutely about decency. And I say that as someone who has benefited financially from Trump. When the Neo-Nazis are on your side, you’re getting something wrong.

It's not a 'false equivalence' because cryrst didn't claim that the scale was the same.

It still happened and the actual policy is and was sensible.

The response of the Democratic media wasn't only illogical but it was highly ill informed.
