On current form we won't go down, overall we are playing well and creating lots of opportunities (even if we only take a few of them!) My only concern is that we haven't really got the points we should have got so that if we do hit a patch of bad form we could get sucked in.
I believe Roy is sincere when he says we are too good to go down but over the years there have been a number of teams that were too good to be relegated but somehow fate conspired to send them down.

Forest were considered this and they've never returned.

Agree.
We are in this position because we have missed too many chances and no team could have missed more open goals than us this season. The way we play a lot of chances are created for our wingers and midfielders and as we see week after week, they're all s*** from within 10 yards of goal. We have no free kick or corner routines, so the defence don't get too many chances to score. The system needs a big front man to win headers, but we desperately need a penalty box striker. Batshuayi has shown in two cameos that he doesn't play well with his back to big centre halves, it's not his game, so we really need to play both of them. That then could potentially leave us light in midfield.
Yesterday we passed about on the edge of the area,(like every game) non stop looking to walk it in and when Benteke went off we started hitting in crosses earlier. Surely that should be done when he's on the pitch? If you look back at the last 18 months or so our forwards are lucky if they get one chance a game. Rarely have they had more and IMO a big part of that is constantly pissing about on the edge of the area.

Very good post. I still like the look of Batshuayi and as Roy gets to work more on his skills and approach, I am sure Bats will prove to be more effective in the pen. And after all, he nearly scored last week, and the chance he had yesterday was not that easy and he for sure he wouldn’t have missed the sitter Jimmy Mc had

Very true, Keane, Pearce, Nigel Clough plus others although to be fair Brian Clough was away with the fairies for most of the season. I don't think (hopefully anyway) Roy is ever half cut during a game.

It would take an almighty collapse for us to slip into 18th position from here. If we keep managing our goal difference as well as we are, then it becomes mathematically impossible.

I'd like us to be home and dry before we play Cardiff on May 4th and I'm fairly confident we will be.

By almighty slip, you mean lose the next game and 3 other teams win?

One thing IMO we have in our favour is RH. Deep down I really think we will be okay and that is because RH is in charge. Next season has got to change as this situation has gone on far too long.

Evening All, we have 8 winnable matches matches out of our remaining 12 so all in our hands.

Also before we drop in the bottom 3 Southampton have to win 2 or win 1 and draw 1 and we lose ours before they go above us due to our goal difference this also means the other teams all have to win or draw during time before we drop into the bottom 3.

We have Leicester, Utd, Burnley & Brighton next 4 games I think a return of 6 points would be a good return.

If we were to go down with this squad then we only have ourselves to blame however I think it will be one of Southampton, Brighton & Cardiff for that last slot.

Yes, of course it is possible for us to go down.
Is it likely? No, but we are Palace.

Will we finish in the top 10? It is possible. Is it likely? No, but we are Palace.

So we'll finish up somewhere in between and no-one will be surprised.

It's a shame that there's only a third of a season left as i believe we are a pretty decent side who should be pushing 12th, 11th maybe even 10th. It's like we've never really got going.

We won't be relegated.
