If we could get him/keep him fit, Wickham would be my choice above all others.

If you want to live in a world full of kindness, respect and love, try to show these qualities.

Therein lies a problem, he is never fit for more than 2 or 3 games, then back to physio room.

Some of the posts are laughable, Benteke not standing in the right place, when he is behind W,H, defence with an open goal. Anyone would think McArthur missed deliberately, the game is so quick its easy to miscue a shot.

You have to look at the positives, we are making chances, some of our passing in the opponents box is creating openings regularily, but that bit of luck just eludes us. It would be more of a concern if we weren't making those chances.

i tell you what, we play some of the best football in the league...whilst having one of the best defences to boot.

we may not be able to “finish” our dinner but its a joy to watch this team.

i watched the video on the official webby with kouayte, and his words were something along the lines of “with some self belief & confidence this team could be really, really special” he is right.

if we could finish our chances we could genuinally by a side to rival the teams for 6/7th place...man for man wolves arnt better than us.

i hope roy stays til he is 80.

Yes.

Luck has nothing to do with it. More like having the correct mental discipline not to take the ball off the designated penalty taker and then completely f***ing up the penalty.
More recently looking up and passing to a team mate who has an easy tap in. If you are going for the glory you'd better score otherwise you are going to look silly. Oh.
I wonder if Roy is instilling the correct mental discipline to remove these errors of judgement.
Luck has nothing to do with it.

I think it was Charlie Nicholas who said recently that he didn't think that Batshuayi is a natural finisher.

He also said Aubameyang wouldn’t score goals for Arsenal as he was the ‘wrong type of striker’.

Will this be five? It's gonna be five! It IS five!

Ok but Benteke should be in the position that PVA is in. Instead a left back is in prime position, which tells a lot. You could argue Benteke should also be the one who gets into these goal scoring chances but he doesn’t do that either. Just stands rooted to the spot.

Did you see the 2nd half one when he chested the ball down to someone but 3-4 or more yards away, only for the defender to hack it clear? Benteke then puts both arms in front of him to gesture the chance he made for his teammate. Well it would’ve been a chance if it was in training versus no defence.

Yep my thoughts exactly. We seem to have an exciting team and finding a bit of form but I wouldnt include benteke in that statement.

Benteke interrupting the roll of the ball, moving it away from goal to make it very difficult to finish opposed to how much easier it would’ve been is not luck, pal. It’s just pure sh1t. I think some of the kids at HT taking penalties would do better in that situation. He’s not worth £3,000 per week, let alone £130,000.

His reading of teammates and where they can and might deliver a ball across goal is terrible for someone here in his 3rd season (he’s never there for the quick ones that go across from further than the near post in our walk it in 2nd halves) and his ability to control a football is abysmal. And that’s before considering controlling a ball on the move. He’s better on the pitch than off it though, but it’s not saying much because we’ve had nobody else to play there.

I’d take anything for him to get him off the wage before his final contract year as long as we could bring someone else in, but because we spent so much on him we’re still suffering on that score so we may not be able to. Benteke being so sh1t is a big reason why we’ll have to cash in on our best players.

I just love it when he moans at his teammates as if everything he does is successful. They’re the best moments for viewing. ‘Why didn’t you do this?’ (after he’s messed it up many times before. Do as I say, not as I do on the pitch. A real joy to watch.

If we could get / keep him fit, mine would be Harry Kane and probably more chance of that.

This post has been merged from a topic called 'Is this the most frustrating team in the world?' by bexleydave

It feels like it to me. Again at Selhurst, 45 mins of allowing the opposition to control the game and looking too laid back and slow, though to be fair in this period we created more than we usually would. One half time later and we look like f***ing Brazil at times, carve West Ham open for fun but even then miss 3 or so massive chances that'd easily bag us the win, only score from a deflection, only bring on our little David Silva lite in Meyer with 10 to go in which he looking brilliant and is combining with Wilf for fun and after fuming at half time I'm walking down the Holmesdale road stunned we didn't win

my point is this team has some serious potential in it. The levels they reach are top 7 quality at times and even when we're not that dynamic we're solid as a rock at the back. How the f*** are we in a relegation battle? Why are our strikers cursed to never take clear cut chances as well?

Not seen it mentioned anywhere, but think Martin Kelly deserve special mention. Every times he comes in, he is doing a great job with no fuss - after Alan P. almost ruined him on the back!

Hear hear. I thought Kelly was heroic in the least. Superb throughout and very brave.

Also have to mention Jeff Schlupp who had his best ever game in a Palace shirt. His constant pressing, activity and willingness were a country mile ahead of Kouyate and without his link up play, we'd have created far less chances to miss.
