All power to these kids and fair play to them for standing up for something that they believe in. Hopefully it will encourage them that they can effect change, and make them politically/cause-minded as they grow up. My generation, or certainly me and my mates, were too interested in getting wasted during our childhood and youth and I don't really feel like a vote counts for much or that enough of my like can be mobilised to make a difference, probably because I was never involved in or encouraged to act in the way these kids are. When these kids grow up and hold influential leadership positions maybe some real change with regards to climate issues will happen. They are the natives of this movement whereas to most older generations have had to deal with it being a new and questionable (to some) concept.

All power to these kids and fair play to them for standing up for something that they believe in. Hopefully it will encourage them that they can effect change, and make them politically/cause-minded as they grow up.

All of it. Having worked in schools watching staff push their political beliefs and influence the young is astounding.

Watching schools do their own mock elections around election times is hilarious as they fix the results to suit their own sensibilities.

Yep...Parents should be aware of what goes on in subjects like the humanities. Some teachers are beyond reproach but it also can be extremely unprofessional.

It's unfortunate that politics is so much part of the fabric within teaching.

If adults show they are as concerned as the kids are it might get the politicians to do something about the problems. Whether you believe in climate change or not we all have a duty to take care of the planet as best we can and we should be ensuring our politicians do what they can to ensure the next generation have a flourishing planet with clean air to breathe and to live in.
