I couldn't help it....

Nelson's next.....I just need a very long ladder and someone very trustworthy to hold it.

'England expects that every man will do his duty'

But until then....It was rather lonely on those voyages.

I dread to think.

The most amusing thing about Karl Marx is that you have to pay to visit his grave.

i beg to differ.

THE most amusing thing about Marx :

This champion of the poor working people lived a privileged life propped up by his aristocratic friend Engels.

Marx managed to abuse his economic hegemony and impregnate his house-cleaner while missus Karl M was off buying pate at Fortnum & Masons.

Sounds like there's a budding comedy series in there somewhere.

'On Your Marx Get Set...Impregnate'.....One way to get the workers of the world to unite I suppose.

He must be spinning around faster than a Scotsman realising it's his call in the pub.

but first and foremost i believe in democracy, rule of law, and moderate civility in public life.

This thread is about nutters who shout-down a meeting, vandalise statues, refuse to accept facts or arguments, riot in the streets, murder politicians like jo cox, openly support isis, homophobia, man-hating feminists (and woman hating chauvinists) , and all the other left/right looneys who cannot give any respect to anybody who does not agree with their dogma....at each others throat. Boring.

I agree with pretty much all of that but saying “boring” just seems like you are saying it doesn’t matter. Our freedoms were bought with an absolute sea of blood and while the real far right are still largely a myth/bogeyman the continued lurch to the left of the mainstream (normalising bat s*** crazy intersectional and radical feminist views but mainly political correctness destroying our institutions) we are heading for civil war at some point. The only bright side I can see is we are probably the first civilisation in the West that should be able to predict that and change course. Not optimistic right now though.

The only thing that used to pleasure Nelsons Column was Willie Mandela
