All I can remember is that I did my knee in playing for Wimbledon YMCA and a fellow at work was a Palace fan and talked me into going so it would have been early in the season. After that first visit I never stopped going!

I was a teenager vacationing with my family on Isle of Wight and hitch-hiked back early to see game.

Remember Lazarus's typical goal celebration. He'd get booked for it every time these days

Trying to remember team lineup

Jackson
Sewell
Blyth
McCormick
Loughlan
Kember
Payne
Lazarus
Taylor T
Taylor C
Jackson

maybe Roger Hoy played? I see he died just three months ago RIP

I am ashamed to say I cannot actually remember what was my first game! I went with my older brother, who is now 88 and still following the Palace. I am 74 and it was when I was about 8.

The games and players I remember would fill a whole thread. Many have already been mentioned. I loved watching Johnny Byrne but also the likes of Alfie Noakes a full back with a bullet shot who took the penalties. I watched us beat Barrow 9-0 and Man U 5-0. I was there to see us gain promotion to the first division for the first time and to draw with Man U in the first game. I rode my bike from Beddington and left it in the gardens of Holmesdale Rd for 6d, before paying 1s and 9p to get in. I walked from the Holmesdale to the Whitehorse terrace to be behind the goal we were attacking each half.

I was there ! I think Roger Hoy played, don't think Mel Blyth did.Long time ago and my memory is not what it used to be so I could be wrong !

I have a feeling that Johnny Byrne played for Fulham, also ex-taxi driver Fred Callaghan who went on to manage Brentford.

My first game was a 0-2 home defeat v. Ipswich in 1967.

I was at the Fulham game.

After the match the players threw their kit to the fans from the Directors Box. Started with shirts, then socks and shin pads don't recall any shorts though !

Willo, Johnny Byrne was playing for Fulham that day.

Thanks for making me feel old - just worked out that this is my 40th season. First game 1-1 draw with Wet Spam 26 Aug 1978 (yes I did have to look up the exact date).

Although here's a properly weird stat - on the day I was born, we lost 0-3 at home. On the day my son was born, we also lost 0-3 at home....

My first game was against Bury in 1958. I was 12years old (i think we won 2-0 but I could be wrong, memory's not what it was).
One thing I will say in 61 years it's never been dull.
Great times then and great times now.

Beckenham born; Palace for life (since 195.

I remember that Fulham game so well.

I think my Dad was trying to put me off going to football as a lad. My first game he took me too was standing on the Holmesdale in 1967 against Millwall.

I think he must have been more scared than me because we'd progressed to the Old Stand by the time the Fulham game came around.

Living down here does have some advantages. At least you can see them cry.

A few years before my time 1969, but I should imagine only death or serious illness(god forbid) will stop me getting to 50 years now, I’m on 44 at the moment, home to Rotherham 1975 my first.

Made in Bromley

This might have been the game I attended with my Rotherham supporting relative who was living up that way in Brindsworth. It was in the mid 70s and we won, possibly 2-0 or 2-1, I cannot be certain after all these years. They beat us fairly comprehensively later that season. He is in his 70s and still goes to their home matches now and then.
