As Willo said, not when it comes to judging whether a player is an offside position and if they're interfering with play or not.

Are they offside yes/no.
Were they interfering with play yes/no.

What's subjective about that?

You look at the reply and they either are are they aren't, there isn't room for interpretation if you apply the rule objectively.

It couldn't be simpler. Boggles the mind that pundits make a debate out of it.

you must be a qualified ref then, the offside rule is F*cked up, you have was he offside in phase one or phase2 did he stand in goal keepers eye line, you can be off side and still be onside, just watch wolves winner from the other day 20 yards offside and scores the winner because of not offside in phase 2 of the attack simples, when you show me your qualification then i will beleave, you just say things because you like the sound of your own voice

Grammar aside, there's a couple of things wrong with this post:

Firstly, you prove my point: the answer to all of your questions is either yes or no. Applying these answers objectively gives the correct decision.

Secondly, it's impossible to hear my own voice through the medium of the written word.

Am I imagining it or wasn't there a goal ruled out by VAR in a game in this years FA Cup that was deemed 'offside' but it was so marginal that debate raged whether the player was actually level or whether his shirt was fractionally in front of the defender when the ball was played. The technology clearly couldn't prove it and the 'decision' was definitely an opinion in my view.

Well there we go!

Anyone else absolutely dreading VAR coming in?! It’s making a mockery of the game in its current interpretation.

This is just not right. Ask yourselves if we were denied such an important victory by a decision (review) like that, how sick would you be...Shocking!

Frightening...

I can only echo the sentiments and comments of the pundits here and their disbelief regarding this decision.

Hopefully this attachment works...

I think we were all surprised at the Grimsby game when their man got sent off!

Why not follow tennis and give the managers 3 shouts per game Then get someone else to check it, not the ref and tell him the decision. This would be the simplest way of taking the heat out of situations. If the Manager hasn’t got an issue then there is no issue. They could hold up a VAR sign to indicate they want the incident checked.

No other sport has the ref check the screen. It’s ridiculous. Slows the game too much

Trouble with that is that managers and players tend to think anything against them isn't right so you will get the potentially using it for some petty little thing in the hope the ref changes his mind...

As for handballs like last night it's all still going to be very subjective and create all sorts of debate even with VAR.

Should there be a time limit on how long a review should take ?

Not sure the long delays and lack of communication are helpful .
