According to Google smokers cost the NHS £5bn and contributed £12 bn in tax and excise in 2015/16. How much will all the fanatical anti smokers cost the NHS as they live on to be 200 years old?

Why do so many smokers feel the need to justify themselves?

To be fair fat people probably don't contribute a fraction of what they cost the NHS

Good point, like it.

I've given up smoking 3 times for periods of 4 years, 2 and a half years and 18 months and counting.

One cigarette and I'm back to 20 a day again. To be honest I only give up each time (and it's bloody hard work) due to rising costs and it's impractical: I've never smoked around the kids or indoors and they were starting to twig on with me creeping off outside in the pissing rain every hour or so: set an example and all that.

As it happens I'd have loved that bird sitting next to me, I'd be arrest for harassment as I'd have ended up in her lap trying to inhale her second hand smoke!

If you like smoking, it's your money and health, crack on.

I think it was Mark Twain who said "giving up smoking is easy - I've done it hundreds of times".

Wife beating may be socially acceptable in Sheffield, but it is a different matter in Cheltenham

Why do the self righteous feel the same need?

And when you can't justify yourself you resort to stupid insults

It’s obviously never occurred to you that smokers might be tired of being the only group (apart from those suspected of having any right wing opinions) open for insults and vilification in a world where everyone is apparently entitled to respect.

When you are deciding on which airline to use because they allow you to smoke you know you're addicted.
I feel the big breweries are to blame in part, by knocking boozers into drinking halls cramming in as many punters in as they can to the detriment of when you had a public, lounge or snug.
They could of at least kept one of those bars foe smokers

Was it 18 years ago, or was it 18 years, 2 months, 22 days, 5 hours and 19 minutes ago ?
