The high Court has ruled the home office policy forcing landlords to check immigration status of tenants is discriminatory.

Good news, another example of the toxic environment created under her watch

Agree! Though I'm sure you don't really give a s*** about landlords ('greedy' etc) and are using this story as a stick to beat May. The Tories have now joined Labour as being anti-landlord.

Pussey. I quote you from "hols obsession with racism "

No its not a hot topic

When I check the daily news it isnt, unless its sensationalised tabloid news story to shift papers

And immigration isn't even 5% of what Brexit is about its made into a political issue and put at the top of the news agenda to sway voting because its an emotive subject.

Question is whether you're easily manipulated or can see through it and judge things objectively

Seems like it is a "hot topic", nearly every news feed lately has race attached and your even sending links your self

My mum just bought a second property to rent out as a form of retirement income. Your statement is disgusting.

This isn't about racism, it's discrimination but I suppose if you're going to lead us down that particular road I guess it could be deemed racist, after all, Mrs May has form with Windrush and the 'foreigners go home' vans

I can't work out who is being discriminated against as the landlords are being asked to check the credentials of everybody.

Perhaps Border Control should be stopped from asking to see peoples' passports too as that must also be discriminatory

Why don't you get your facts right?

The van said: "In the UK illegally? Go home or face arrest."

Can you explain how this is racist? I take it that you think that immigrating to a country ILLEGALLY is fine? What other UK laws do you think are acceptable to be broken? Or do you want no laws and just anarchy?

This control was ridiculous but not motivated by discrimination or racism.

However it was ridiculous because:

- It handed over an official responsibility to landlord to do immigration checks. It was not limited with `show me you visa` but also has responsibility of ensuring it is valid..With harsh penalty including prison.

- This unfair asked pushed many landlords to be reluctant to give their houses to non-British people which ended with indeliberate discrimination. I guess there was a sudden drop due to this rule and it was brought to Parliament.

Maximum, they should ask to landlords to give details of the tenants to Home Office to monitor. Landlords can not act like immigration officer.

I think that is fair. When I worked at M&S a number of people were sacked because it turned out their visas were fakes. I am not sure how a landlord is expected to know that when a multinational didn't.

I know in many countries you have to register if you are not a citizen maybe that should be the way we go?

Should be a Gestapo like organisation that you could report your neighbours to for being 'unBritish'.
