Following the Shoreham airshow crash, organisers of the bi-annual Farnborough airshow have decided there is not enough demand to have the weekend flying show. They cite lack of demand from spectators and complaints from locals.
[Link]

The Shoreham show hasn't been held since the crash.

The only airshow that doesn't involve flying over spectators (or anyone), is the Eastbourne air show, which most of the flying is done over the sea. Having said that, I was stuck in traffic outside Eastbourne one year, when the red arrows did a crossover manoeuvre directly over us.

If everyone follows Farnboroughs stance, that'll be the end of air shows

You cannot beat the WWI planes flying overhead. What a noise.

Not sure the complaints were just from locals, I'd imagine there were more from climate change protester types than them.

What you mention about Eastbourne is what they could easily have done at Shoreham as it is right on the sea too. Farnborough is nowhere near it however.

I was working there the year the Eurofighter was launched/displayed, days before the public were let in, and I couldn't believe the manoeuvres it could do. That said I wouldn't have wanted to be underneath it had something gone wrong.

Optimistic as ever

Biggins Hill air show was always a massive event when I was a kid, we used to look forward to going every summer. As someone said above, the spitfires, hurricanes and the Lancaster bombers flying passed was a bit special. Also the Jet fighters with their sonic booms as they shot passed was incredible.
Even if we couldn’t go, from where we lived in Bromley you’d always see something flying over from the show.

Neglecting the Vulcan Bomber should be a red card imo. How very bloody dare you!

I have been lucky enough in the past 5 years to have two private airshows overhead. (plus the Eurofighter in 1996, flying over Dunsfold Aerodrome , where I was working,...on its way to Farnborough airshow)

Apache helicopter flying over my allotment plot (doing a few passes), then a spitfire flying over my boat 2 years ago, on its way to Tenterden.

The difference with Shoreham is that they were largely non-spectators that were killed. Or people that had not signed to 'terms and conditions' that flying displays are dangerous.

I now live in Goring , Forest.
Not so much this time of year, but more or less daily there are spitfires flying by, going out to sea.
(you can hire a ride for a few bob and I believe the full barrel roll out at sea for a few grand!)
besides the beautiful growl of the spit' there are small planes & mad men in those sort of planes that look like a bike with wings & an engine on it, on a very regular basis.
just not crowds gawking at the spectacle.
