It does make you wonder what fantastic opportunities they think the rest of us had. South London estates and comprehensives in the seventies weren’t a gateway to untold riches either.

If you got on the housing ladder 30 years ago in some parts of London, it's not far short of buying a winning lottery ticket. The direction of the property market has, through complete luck, enriched plenty of people. So in retrospect that was a fantastic opportunity and one that certainly doesn't exist for young people now.

I think it's the idea for many that even if you do work hard now, it's more of a struggle than it would be in the past.. and they'd be right. This is more a point about young people in London in general, not specific to crime. Just the contradiction between the prosperity of London and the increasing number of barriers to plugging into that, for most.

Yes, that’s true but as you say luck played a large part. It didn't seem such an opportunity when you were paying a mortgage then.

that's out of control capitalism creating a growing 2 tier society pushing more people into poverty and the inevitable rise in crime. eventually it'll lead to anarchy and large scale public disorder

Due to the elephant in the room that is never mentioned? The fiat currency forced upon us that is now, along with every fiat currency it's followed, is coming to an end, along with the inherent inflation that it brings hence why we are all worse off than those we follow.
The dollar has lost around 97% of it's purchasing power since it's inception in 1913...............but i guess you already know that.

That's true also, as they say you've got to be in it to win it! Now though, getting a mortgage on a comparable job to back then is a pipe dream.

I make you right but once again, and you're not alone, you've omitted 'crony' before the word capitalism.
Capitalism is a simple contract between parties but cronies manipulate simple contracts to their favour (anyone surprised?).
As for anarchy, should it change the current order for the betterment of future masses then i'm all for it.
Why spend your life being continually screwed!

It makes me laugh when leftie soyboys romatisise about anarchy.

In a true anarchist society they would just be the easiest prey for every other tribe. They would not survive.

If you really want to see anarchy go to a failing 3rd world state and see if you like it.

Sounds like you really want your grandchildren speaking Chinese or Russian Tux.......because that would probably be what would happen.

I agree with you on the crony element of capitalism and the flaws of a society that increasingly is looking like a corporate play thing.....However, I don't think it's too paranoid to suggest that the 'reds' aren't even under the bed anymore.

I'm aware of that but people adapt. That's what we do.
My biggest gripe is that they'll continue to pay more for less.
The life is being sucked out of many now so what does the future hold for those who'll be here?

The world is turning to rats***.

Yep.....I hope I'm wrong but I'm not that optimistic for the future. We have had poor leaders making poor decisions for decades now.......and we just seem to have drones in to replace them.

And people seem happy to accept this

The race to the bottom has been won.
Sadly.
