What RH should have realised by now is that if we score first we are in a good position because we have the counterattacking capability to hurt teams as they come out trying to get an equaliser.
Why at home we start so slowly and let the opposition score first,, giving them the opportunity to sit back and counter is a mystery to me.
Manchester United under Ferguson would pummel the opposition for the first 15 minutes at home, we just pass it from side to side. We need to be on the front foot and up the tempo, give the crowd something to get excited about.

Agree. When I saw the team sheet my heart sank as I felt this was the game to let the shackles off in midfield/attack. Okay we had a great away win but that did not mean we needed to set up the same. Most teams have a different philosophy home and away. With a home crowd they will naturally be on the front foot and this works in our favour. The Weeds were never going to come to our place and open up against us. Suspect we will do better against the Hornets, as being at home they will come out and play, the Udders will be a whole different ball game.

The first goal was scored by a simple boot up the field, if we had done that Brighton's defence would have dealt with it with ease ..that was the difference today, their back line was stronger more determined and organised then ours.
They deserved the win because of it.

Totally irrelevant to the point I was trying to make.

Why didn't you post this after we had beaten Burnley?

Because he was singing his praises.

What ever Hodgson says about preparing the team it was obvious they were under prepared for this game. For the first half hour the defence were too predictable and slow in passing the ball forward. In addition they didn’t have a clue as to how to breakdown Brighton’s well drilled defence. We are still up to our necks in a relegation battle following today’s results.

It is up to us to have the guile to break them down which, we were incapable of. Roy’s job and even if Brighton’s set up took him by surprise (God knows why), then he should have made changes at half time, one of those being Meyer. While we are at it leaving Kouyate out was brainless; it was a derby and his toughness was needed. As an aside i thought the atmosphere today was subdued.

Bring back Brolin

The term 'tactical substitution' as interpreted by the manager in home games is 'wait until less than 15 minutes to go and then bring on another striker'

When it is obvious to all that the midfield is not productive and can only 'ping pong' balls to the massed opposition defence. When in doubt pass sideways or back - it is safer.

Heaven help us if he tries this 'tactic' against Huddersfield. He must use Meyer as he is all we've got!

Partly correct. The manager picks the team and chooses the tactics. Quite what Roy manages I don’t know. Even if it is obvious to Stevie Wonder Roy will stick with it over and over and over agin. Responsibility only lies with one person. Unless you are new to football. Our home record over the last 2 seasons is indefensible.

Our home form as we all know is dire, like has been said on here we need to start the game at home on a very high tempo and press teams in the first 20 mins. This should unsettle any pre-laid plans they had to park the bus, hurts me to say but Brighton had us well under control and we paid the price. Nobody is going to tell me man for man Brighton lineup was stronger than ours, we have the squad to do it and IMO should start at home with Max in the side.
