Nation charges its own soldier....again. A situation which they should never have been put in......The Army are not Police.

Don't send your children to fight for this lot. They aren't worthy of defending. What are you defending nowadays? These people don't believe in nationhood.

Let the liberals and left wing fill their ranks.....see how that goes.

I don't often disagree with you and I'm not completely disagreeing with you now. The thought of British soldiers (particularly of a certain age) being tried in court does not sit easily with me.

That said, many innocent people lost their lives that day. Some were children, some were shot whilst attending the wounded.

This isn't black or white my friend.

I notice the recruitment campaign on TV is targetting Black people and women recently.

Who would want to join the army now?

Why would you want to go to another country and kill foreigners for a country which is filling up with the very sort of people you might be shooting?

Army dreamers? You would have to be insane.

I have respect for the bravery shown by serviceman for sure but I don't reckon much on their brains if they want to subject themselves to traumatic experiences and risk death and injury only to be spat at by immigrants when they come home or be abandoned by the country they are supposedly defending when they are unemployed and or have mental health issues.

Training ordinary young men to be clinical killers only to prosecute them when they lose the plot.

It's disgraceful and yet again the blame lies at the door of Tony Blair.

I have no doubt that innocent people were killed by soldiers that day. However when the Good Friday agreement was made the UK government agreed to release hundreds of terrorists and not to prosecute many others.

This was the price for peace and I accept that it was a necessary evil. However Blair should have insisted that the amnesty also covered the security forces.

I would have preferred a peace and reconciliation commission which would have investigated any crimes either by the terrorists or the security services with the proviso of immunity for those that agreed to co-operate with it.

Instead we get another Blair botch job and our brave soldiers are left to fight this on their own.

"Join the army get to meet interesting people and places and oh yeah and get hung out to dry by the establishment."

No it isn't, I agree.

Compensation was always the right action. If we could bring back the dead we would....The day the IRA convicted their own I might be able to stomach it. I still remember those two soldiers in the car at the funeral.....where's their justice.

These were armed soldiers in a confrontational situation......This was always going to happen at some point.

This isn't in my name and anyone sending their children to fight for this lot, they should remember this.....They pay you to have their back.....but when it's tough they haven't got yours.

Not quite on their own as the Defence Secretary has said that we will pay all the soldier's legal costs so he will probably have a top barrister

These soldiers murdered innocent civilians in cold blood.

They were unarmed and posed no threat, some were little more than children, that is what the Saville findings found, and Prime Minister Cameron apologised for.

They did not face court-martial and the troubles escalated as a result of their actions, with loss of life on all sides including the army itself.

Their victims are dead, they are not.

Why is it that you only ever show outrage if it is directed against the government/Tories and political right?

You would never post such outrage about an IRA or Islamic terrorist. Why is that?

People have short memories.

In WW2 we sent bombers over to Germany and we bombed civilians...because they were doing it to us.....Babies died horrible deaths in rubble who were as innocent as you can be.

Did we send those airmen to jail? Where is the compensation for those babies?

There is no fairness in war......The IRA were in that crowd. If you put armed soldiers in confrontational situations eventually people are going to die.

You don't s*** on your own.
