Can't agree with this statement. I had a very good friend who served in NI and they feared for their lives every single day

Correct Spidey, paras are shock troops. A couple of crows got nervy under extreme pressure, brought on by cowardly players hiding behind civvies.

They shouldn't have been there in the first place, but reacted as everyone would.

For those who know: what makes the grass grow?

Appreciate this ingrained mentality and then place yourself under threat.

The IRA instigated this, Google McGuiness's quotes on it.

The whole investigation is a disgrace.

Wtf are you on about? They were both murdered by the scum.

The latter, especially, was a war hero and was blown up callously out of spite.

A load of BBC nonces have nothing Ng to do with it.

Please explain why my comment has any relevance to this. Also what relevance has this to the thread?

follow the links and you decide for yourself.

suffice it to say that where there is smoke, there is often fire also.

Ted Heath was certainly a wrong-un.

We could always start by sending Blair to The Hague

Thanks for that. The bleeding heart who responded to my original post came up with the old "war crimes" nonsense. Soldiers faced with hostile mobs in an obvious civil war situation can hardly be accused of war crimes.
Blair of course marched thousands of servicemen into a war scenario in Iraq. The above comment is jocular but has a certain serious relevance.

The more you give, the more they will take.
Appeasment has to have an end point but apparently not in this case.
Releasing 300 murderers and giving letters apologising isnt enough.
172 squaddies wasnt enough that year then.

It wasn't until they came for London that they gave a serious crap....and that was only for bending the knee.

Was it not the RAF that started mass bombing of civilians in March 1940?

I can’t understand why the RMPs weren’t all over this. Unarmed civilians shot in the back and when attending the wounded. There is no bravery in that, only cowardice.

I am sure there was some armed threat but this has always appeared to me to be indiscriminate killing. I don’t think the paras were in fear for their lives, just angry and out of control. In any other sphere of life they would be held to account. They can’t be above the law.

WW2, and specifically Churchill, caused a huge divide with Ireland and the UK.
Churchill promised a united Ireland if Eire soldiers went to war. Many thousands of Irish soldiers fought in WW2.
And yet, paradoxically, there was no blackout in Dublin of a night. All their lights were left ablaze, which enabled the Luftwaffe to triangulate where cities of Liverpool and Coventry were, (amongst others)

Weird how only one soldier is being charged for Bloody Sunday. I guess ballistics could only identify his weapon.
No terrorists have been identified for the murders of Mountbatten, those 2 soldiers who drove into an IRA funeral, Brighton hotel bomb, horseguards bombing, Enniskillen, The Post Office tower bomb ,....(please correct if I am wrong).

Just seems very one-sided.
