Another Purley Skyscraper Update

The Purley Skyscraper Enquiry process is set to begin all over again following a Judicial Review in the High Court. Croydon’s Labour-run Council used taxpayers' money to fight the decision to deny planning consent. This does not mean that the skyscraper now has planning consent – the whole Public Enquiry process will start again and is likely take a year or more. I will fight the skyscraper again through a new Enquiry and I hope that everyone who fought so hard against it before will continue to do so.

Labour. Here to ruin and blot the landscape and futures of our offspring. If only they knew it.

Same thing is happening in Wandsworth - what seems like dozens of high-rise blocks going up in the borough. How will the infrastructure cope with all the extra people who'll need facilities for education, health, social sevices, etc?

Problem is that when the council rejects planning applications for more housing units, they are appealed and allowed by the government. Extra housing means more votes and hard luck for the existing and long-suffering London residents.

More dwellings equals more tax, the council will always approve 100 x band D/E over 1 x band H.

So what’s your point? Yes, Wandsworth has been run by a Conservative council very successfully for decades. Attempts to limit indiscriminate and unaffordable housing developments have been rejected on appeal by a Conservative govt. Labour doing a great job in Croydon aren’t they?

Ah, wasn"t actually having a dig at your point jamesey, was just making a point to another poster , that Labour or Conservative councils are as bad as each other, all money grabbers, although you do historically have the lowest council tax in London, maybe at what cost? I am probably one of the few who have been waiting for this building boom to happen in Croydon for 30 years, and now its in full swing, i think its great, we will have a town center like new york, and people travel to see that! I"m also looking forward to a massive new stand at selhurst as the croydon backdrop, but unfortunately that seems to be on the back foot!

Fair comment, "croydon proud", I made my point because I thought it was relevant to the thread, having lived happily in Wandsworth for 40 years, although a Croydon boy originally which is why I have stayed a Palace supporter.

Hope the Croydon boom is helpful for you although looking around Fort Neef and S'hurst it seems unlikely. I guess you must be talking about central Croydon?

A town centre like New York? Town Hall Gardens for Central Park and West Croydon for Greenwich Village. Well, nothing's impossible...

Ha ha, you never know! Yes, i was thinking central Croydon, two very high lift shafts have appeared opposite east croydon station and look like the twin towers if you are walking up crown hill, but i must admit, been walking in selhurst and t heath in past few weeks during the day, not palace day, and did think it was looking like a real dump! But central croydon will be the place to be in 5 years, if you don"t get ambushed in selhurst on route!
