Even if you believe 90% that Sandy Hook was fake, any decent and normal human being would keep that vile 10% of his/her opinion private and quiet. How dare he air the views that the parents of young children brutally and senselessly slaughtered were paid actors, without having 100% certainty.

How would you like that, if you were one of those parents? Try to imagine.

This is one of the lowest things a person can do. One of the parents, after a long struggle with the terrible grief and sorrow of losing a child today took his own life in CT. He was one of the parents suing this piece of sh&t for defamation.

He embodies everything which is sick, twisted and wrong with American right wing conspiracy theory scumbags.

He should be ignored and not promoted.

He's since apologised – do you not believe in redemption?

Strange, he speaks so highly of you.

Mmmmm...sub human is very very strong....where do you go from there? I can understand you disliking Jones but let's be sensible Alex Jones hasn't murdered anyone.

Tell me, where do you go from 'sub human'?
I mean what do you call rapists or murderers....hell child murderers?

I support the legal action taken against him by the parents.....though listening to what Jones has to say about other coverage on this case has some impact. I don't know upon what basis he's had action taken but I think the parents of those dead children have a case.

Jones has rightly apologised for that situation, which is in the podcast.

I don't agree that he's sick and twisted and obviously many millions don't agree with you.....I think he was seriously wrong over Sandy Hook but then again the pro gun culture is strong in America and he was just apart of the paranoid pushback conspiracy response to that.

A certain amount of Jones is performance art mixed in with political polemicist and like many in America he uses that to make money....he's just funny doing it and not a 'progressive'.

He sells BS the same as the rest of the political outlets do....CNN and all the rest of them. While I agree with him answering to the Sandy Hook stuff I don't stand with your moral outrage being only for him.

He's entertaining and that's why he's popular.....I agree he talks a lot of nonsense but he's pretty funny doing it.

Talented people who entertain don't get ignored and you are free to be outraged but it won't make any difference as America....for now, is still a free speech country.

In some cases yes, but not in his case, no.

He is facing a defamation suit so I guess his apology wasnt enough for the parents either.

A well thought out response.

On this site that makes this a gold plated unicorn. I salute you.

I cant really reply in line again otherwise it would become a mess, but allow me to retort.

England and America are indeed bastions of free speech, although ironically Trump is trying to change all of that with his ludicrous attacks on the so called "fake news". Otherwise known as anyone who criticizes him, ever.

Within these countries there are laws such as libel, slander and defamation though. The good news is he is being nailed for defamation for his disgusting views on Sandy Hook.

Honestly though its not only Sandy Hook, he has been seriously disrespectful in his views on 9/11, Oklahoma city, and some other mass tragedies involving enormous loss of life.

When you peddle these ludicrous conspiracy theories you are insulting the dead, and insulting their grieving families.

I find that abhorrent and do not tolerate it.

I've always had respect for free speech....setting the bar for it as tolerantly as possible....for example, if someone's offended by something...as we all are from time to time, I regard it as a necessary evil....a kind of check and balance ensuring that no one group can control any other.

That said, what is called 'free speech' has never been absolutist speech in the sense that you can shout, 'fire' in a crowded space and cause physical injuries and perhaps death......So the old English common law of proveable libel, indecency, national security has always stood.

I'm not so hot on slander ....though I think there's a case for it, for example you lose your job from it....but the whole point of 'free speech' is that it protects expression that the majority of people disagree with or find offensive. There is rarely any demand for banning inoffensive speech......So I'm completely against the changes made to recent UK law in this area over the 'offence' stuff.

In terms of the conspiracy theory stuff....99 percent of it is of course sheer fruitcake boll0cks. Most of the time I think the argument can be made that it's not healthy and is pandering to wackos. As for those like me who view figures like Alex Jones as an occasional entertainment I'm still very aware that it's a mental junk food....Just a bit more wacky than lots of the biased political commentary you get out there.

Still, I don't want us controlling expressed opinions like China does.....Everything's a conspiracy theory until it isn't.

However, when people talk about parents being 'crises actors' over Sandy Hook, which results in wackos turning up at their doors....Some form of pushback is valid....Jones has apologised but those parents certainly deserve their day in court and....and hell, if they get some money out of him then he's certainly rich enough to give a little......Mind you, would that result in no one feeling free to question any shooting? Mmmmm probably something for me to think about but anyway.

In most cases I'm far more a believer in debate pushback over consequences for speech.....That results in censorship and that kills the challenge of narratives.

I spent a little time on YouTube videos trying to talk reason on conspiracy videos over 9/11.....which I know is pointless but I've still enjoyed to an extent....and when people defame the dead there is someone there to answer back.

This is where you have it utterly wrong. Trump is specifically referring to LIES by the media throughout his campaign and term in office with the Russia probe the biggest example. Most people know this and polls show trust in the media at record lows. CNN's awful ratings illustrate this also.

Did you know that Obama used the Espionage Act to put a record number of reporters' sources in jail [Link]

Trump's recent executive order protects free speech on college campuses which have has conservative speakers banned or attacked in the last couple of years...

England is a bastion of free speech? Are you sure? Tell that to Tommy Robinson or someone misgendering on Twitter.

No, you are wrong.

I watch hours of fox, cnn, msnbc and others every day.

Trump is a pathological liar, he has lied thousands of times. When journalists point this out, they are fake news.

When someone criticizes trump, like the time he sided with Putin over his own intelligence community, they are fake news.

When trump sided with MBS over his own intelligence community, and even the likes of Lindsey Graham, if anyone criticized that, they were fake news.

When trump claimed his inauguration had a record turn out, and was called out on this lie, it was fake news.

I could go on, there are literally THOUSANDS of lies I could speak about, and anyone who ever points this out, is labeled fake news.

Trump labels the entire media as the enemy of the people, whereas it is he who is the enemy. Trump lies hundreds of times a week. If anyone points that out, they are fake news.

You speak of the Russia probe. Manafort gave confidential polling data to a known Russian agent. Trump’s minions met with Russians in trump tower to obtain dirt on Hilary. Trump admitted to Leicester Holt that he fired Comey due to the Russia probe.

He asked comey to go easy on Flynn, classic obstruction of justice.

Only a fool would say there was no need for the mueller probe.

Regarding free speech in England, you have to understand that topic in the context of the entire world, which extends beyond the UK and the USA. Their are people rotting in jail in China for daring to question the regime, and they are by no means the worst offenders.

Yes, we know Trump lies. I hate to admit but Obama lied too.

However, Trump is specifically talking about the disingenuous reporting by the media who have an agenda. The facts are there!

No he doesn't lie hundreds of times a week, that's just you exaggerating. He lies, yes he does, all politicians lie but I think it's fair to call Trump a born politician.

Most of all he exaggerates like you did there and he likes character assassinations like you have done there. You appear to dislike someone so much yet you are happy to emulate their behaviour. In truth, it's how Trump wants the Democrats to behave.

None of the meetings Trump's team had were illegal. Clinton's team were also having relations with foreign officials which are fronts for governments. It's waffle played on by the press to give the public the idea that something out of the regular is happening when this has always happened.

I have little doubt that Trump said that to Comey, however the legal actions against Flynn are over the top and in reality this isn't 'obstruction of justice'. It's talking common sense and it wasn't an official order.....So again, it's exaggeration amplified by the Democrats and their activists.

As the Mueller probe was 25 million dollars to come up with basically 'same old, same old' I don't think the idea that it was a waste of time and resources is foolish at all.

It's why the west, regardless of whether the right or left are in power must never abandon the freedom to express non violent ideas. Ideas which others may not like or indeed be offended by.

I agree some of the leftwing media have a clear agenda, but Trump is like a home run to them, how can they not oppose someone who denies climate change, sides with putin over his own intelligence people, excuses despots and dictators for their evil acts as long as there is a trade deal there, "grabs em by the pussy" and so on and so forth.

It is a self fulfilling prophecy. Of course there is an agenda against him, but have you SEEN HIM or LISTENED TO HIM FOR 1 second or tweet...lol. He is a village idiot of a president. He is abhorrent to everything that certain Americans stand for, I think they feel duty bound to oppose him utterly.

Your examples there are not classic fake news according to Donald Dump. Fake news means the journo cooking something up themselves. Well lets be honest, fake news means any reporting whatsoever which is remotely critical of Trump.

Kavanaugh's accuser Dr Christine Blasey Ford was resoundingly believed during her senate hearings, and had confided in her shrink long before Kavanaugh rose to the heights necessitating a political hit job. The news media reported on allegations by other individuals, such as the client of Avenatti who alleged gang rape etc. There were several people coming forward and any news outlet has to make a call on what to publish, based on credibility. Perhaps the gang rape stuff was a bridge too far there.

The native American chief who was blocked off by that smiling MAGA hat wearing kid reported to feeling harassed, belittled and scared of physical violence. That was the guy actually there, not invented by some journalist. If you watch the tape, its clear something funny is going on there with that kid.

As for Jussie Smollett, he went bananas, hired to 2 Nigerian body builders and went to town. This was not fake news, it was a fake story, concocted by the individual. How the hell was CNN (or FOX who reported no it) supposed to know it was a hoax when it first came to light? He is a famous black, gay actor being assaulted by 2 guys in MAGA hats - if you were news editor at CNN, I think you would run that one too.

As for Russia, again as I said before, Trump has many historical crooked Russia ties and they are plain as the nose on your face.

He lied about trying to build Trump Tower in Moscow. He stated he had zero current or potential business interests in Russia. His people lied about the meeting in Trump tower with Russian lawyers telling them they had dirt on Hilary. Trump lied about that meeting. Roger Stone and Jerome Corsi lied about wikileaks, and everything else. At the time the DNC mail hack happened, Trump went on camera and said "Russia, if you are watching, I hope you release the emails" or something to that effect.

Manafort lied through his teeth about his pal Kilimnick and their get togethers, he shared privileged polling data. Flynn lied about his links to the Russians. Then there is Papadopolous, Sater, the list goes on.

To cap it all off he fired the FBI director because, and I quote "of that Russia thing" and before doing so pressured him to end the investigation into Flynn.

The Russians massively influenced the election with intelligent and hard hitting social media campaigns, and were hell bent on electing Trump. When Trump and Putin had a meeting in Helsinki it was described by even some on Fox News as the most embarrassing display of cow towing to a Russian leader in the history of the world.

Given all of those facts, I think the DOJ did their job in initiating the Mueller investigation.

Trump lost. Badly. Hahahahahahaha.
