Trump's verified lie count is up to 16.5 per day in his 2nd year, up from 5.9 in his first year.

[Link]

That is 115.5 per week these days, and his grand total as of Feb 17th this year is 8718.

You can say a lot of things about Trump, but one thing you cannot say with a straight face, is that he doesnt lie over 100 times every single week.

Trump a born politician? It is precisely because he is not a classic politician, that he has had the success that he has had, and he admits as much openly. Somehow a Manhattan Billionaire reached out to sheet metal workers in Nebraska, like no politician ever had before. Go figure.

My personal theory on the Trump base, the real MAGA hat waving raving mob, the true slack jaws, is that in a post Trump era, they will once again disentangle themselves from politics and crawl back under whatever rock they live. Mike Pence cannot whip that mob into a frenzy. Ted Cruz, forget it. Rubio? No chance. Once Trump goes, the Trump base drifts away forever like dust in the wind.

The problem for the GOP is that with the shifting demographic, no amount of idiotic Latinos who actually support this guy (a massive minority) can stave off the inevitable slide into Latino dominated democratic administrations starting in 30 or 40 years, the numbers dont lie.

I cannot agree with you on Russia, as I said in my last response to Penge Eagle. Nothing going on there was standard and ordinary. Either way, the Mueller report hasnt even been released yet, just the 4 page summary of a hand picked AG who interviewed for the job by writing a "memorandum" to former colleagues at the DOJ essentially stating that due to executive power it is IMPOSSIBLE for the POTUS to obstruct justice. Good idea to get hired as the next AG.

On free speech, I am all for it, but when people start selling paedo manuals online, describing the best ways to groom and assault children, I think it stretches the boundaries of free and unfettered speech.

Case in point Jones is being sued for defamation, quite rightly, and I hope they nail him to the wall for his vile claims about Sandy Hook.

Trump lost. Badly. Hahahahahahaha.

Seriously Maine? You're going to give me a link to the Washington post about how many times Trump lies?

An opponent isn't a valid source.

Yes you can. The fact that you think you can place everything in the same category just shows how set against him you are. That's fine but it's not objective.

Didn't you just call him a liar....Yet here you choose to believe the things he says that suit your narrative.

I think that's a very poor way to talk about practically half the country.

Well yep, the demographics ultimately dictate that.....which is why the 65 act was a long term suicide note for white rule in America.

Essentially though you are talking about civil war and lots of death.....and I don't celebrate that at all.

I think you are going to have to come to terms with the reality is that this was all a giant nothing burger....that or become a conspiracy theory on that matter.

I will support your entitlement to do so.

I think free speech laws should cover that stuff under indecency. If they don't then we need to ensure that children are protected but without punishing the innocent.

Jones, along with many others has a case to answer over issues related to Sandy Hook. However, again, it's a topic that requires careful handling.....We don't want a situation where no one can question shootings.....even fruitcakes.....But yes, I was offended by this stuff as well.

But the offence isn't enough on its own....lets see how this goes.

The Washington Post is a serious and credible news outlet. It has been since 1877. It will continue to be once Trump is simply a lesson taught in school about the fall of the American political machine and its societal breakdown. Just because Trump calls the Washington Post fake news, does not mean that they dont tell the truth.

Each lie has been carefully checked and cross checked for accuracy.

He has indeed lied over 8000 times since becoming President, and there have been some whoppers. Remember in Helsinki when he said "I dont know why it would have been Russia" when he was cow towing to Putin over collusion. After the negative reaction, the next day he actually sat in the briefing room and said that he misspoke and meant to say "I dont know why it WOULDNT be Russia". This is a lie with all the sophistication of a 3 year old.

It is but one of thousands.

Once again, Stirling, you cannot say with a straight face that Trump is not a pathological liar. He lies professionally. He is absolutely incapable of speaking for more than 1 minute without lying about something.

Regarding him being a born politician, or the opposite as I argue, yes I can believe Trump when he says that. No one says he lies 100% of the time with EVERYTHING he says, just the 16.5 a day.

A poor way to talk about half the country? Firstly, its not half, but secondly, they are in a very poor way. They are utterly lost and beyond hope if they think this President is fighting for them. His so called middle class tax cut benefited millionaires ares and large corporations. His tariff and trade wars are hitting farmers and growers where it hurts. He wants to waste billions on a campaign promise, to fix a "crisis" which doesnt exist.

People who want to cross borders are not stopped by walls as most illegal entries and narcotics come through ports of entry. Spend the billions where it makes sense, not to satisfy the rants of a baying mob screaming "build. the. wall" or "lock. her. up" or some other such nonsensical gibberish.

Careful using terms "white rule" Stirling as that has some dangerous connotations in these lands. I would prefer to phrase it as GOP rule. But with Steve King out there pushing his hateful narrative, and Trump claiming there were "good people on both sides" during a Nazi rally, maybe you are right there.

Re Russia lets wait and see what Mueller says. I dont think the American people paid 25 mil for the Barr report, they paid for the Mueller report.

Cool Maine, you have far more energy over this than I have.

We will see what happens.

The same Washington Post that has never endorsed a Republican presidential candidate.

Tell the truth? Even a broken clock gets the time right twice a day.

Well its true they have never endorsed a republican for the presidency but they have only been in the political endorsement game since the turn of the century, and have endorsed republicans for house and senate.

I think this whole narrative that long established and well respected bastions of news such as the New York Times and Washington Post dont tell the truth, is truly evidence that the work Trump has done to undermine the media is actually working.

There are clearly left leaning organizations, but then there are some quite patently right wing media operations out there, who liked nothing more than attacking Obama because he wore a light coloured suit jacket. Remember that one? Trump cheats with p*** stars, lies to the people thousands of times, makes crude comments about women, refers to African countries as "sh&t holes" and Obama got in hot water for wearing a light suit jacket.

My word the rules of the game have changed.

Since when did we look to the US president for moral guidance? People knew what they got with Trump, for all his brashness and insensitivity. Presidents are simply in place to govern and should be judged on their accomplishments.

You speak of the Russia probe. Manafort gave confidential polling data to a known Russian agent. Trump’s minions met with Russians in trump tower to obtain dirt on Hilary. Trump admitted to Leicester Holt that he fired Comey due to the Russia probe.

The court filing by Mueller confirm this. Both the individuals at Trump tower and in the Manafort case were government go betweens. Intelligence even stated that Veselnitskaya tried to recruit people as double agents to work for the Russian government, so she had close government ties. A recent Mueller filing stated that Trump Campaign officials directed Stone to find out more about future hacking and release plans from Guccifer, a Russian intelligence agent. Trump jr was contacted in relation to 'very high level and sensitive information but is part of Russia and it's government's support for Mr. Trump' before the Trump Tower meeting. The list goes on.. All of this was lied about prior to being confirmed and is now on public record. It's news, not 'fake news' and not a hoax.

Barr includes very little of Muellers report in his brief memo, not one complete sentence. The highlighted portion has a footnote stating there was no 'agreement' between the Trump campaign and the 'Russian Government'. That's a high bar, as it should be. A very specific claim though and gives a pass to all manner exchanges and interplay between people who are on the same page with individuals that are obviously working 'on behalf of' the Russian government. Based on previous court filings Mueller likely covered all of this is his report. It's all about getting the headline though via this memo. Expect anything we see to be gutted by 'executive privilege'. AKA allowing the subject of a report to redact it.

Barr wrote a 19 page memo to the department of justice on why Trump shouldn't be charged with obstruction in any scenario before he'd even got the job or had seen the report. 48 hours after its release he's reached that conclusion. Job done. It's still unknown whether Mueller even intended for Barr to make that call or assumed this would go to congress. After all, even in Watergate, the special counsel made no solid determination on whether Nixon committed obstruction of justice, they just presented the facts in the report.

It would be nice if we could see it or hear from Mueller at some point. That would paint a more complete picture. It's likely that the reality is somewhere between CNNs He's in bed with Putin!! and Trump's NO COLLUSION and the gravity of this and facts at hand make it difficult to make a solid determination of personal guilt. It's hardly a clean bill of health , more a green light for Russia. Russia's online efforts were vast, multi pronged and encouraged. Expect more of the same.

Not since Reagan in real terms.

The commander in chief should provide moral leadership as he runs the country and military.

No president in the history of the Union has stooped so low, and I hope no president will ever stoop into the gutters in the post Trump era.

Are you kidding me?

Bill Clinton raped/sexually assaulted women while president!

My moral guidance comes from my parents or the church. Not the state.

How exactly has Trump stopped so low as president?

The president works on behalf of the people to govern a country.

Not a comment on the above but have you seen how handsy Biden gets? The videos on youtube. I'm certainly not implying anything at all, other than saying that they're unsettling. If he's the Dems 2020 nominee he's tailor made for the no holds barred campaigning tactics that are bound to come. Someone like Sanders would be a better choice even though he's ancient. He's more sane than a lot of those throwing their hat in the ring anyway.
