Just to be a bit Devil's advocate here - wasn't it always the case you could get arrested on suspicion of anything (sweet FA, or trumped up) basically and then released without charge within a certain timeframe. I believe the wonderful Tony Blair extended this time - notably for terrorism - but also did they not change the habaeus corpus rules for legal representation too?
Can you call lawyer immediately now? Not sure on timeframes anymore as I have been away, in the main, for 20 years.

I was taught a long time ago, when it had been raining & you ventured out walking, be it, to work/bus stop/shop, always have a coin in your pocket & your hand around it.

After you've been soaked by a tw*t of a driver, a broken back window is a great feeling, tho, you do lose a £1. Works as well.

Edit: I do not condone this behaviour by anyone.

I think you just manifested the phrase....'don't get mad, get even'.....mind you, that's over even.....That said I also walk around with a £1 coin in my hand......but that's in case I see a Guardian writer begging for food in the streets.

AQG2,

I hear & feel your pain, BUT, I do have photographic proof that you did indeed buy a round in the 'Brewers'.
