Well, the laws in Brunei have been extreme for a long time.

The underlying issues need to be addressed, not the headlines. Brunei has a dreadful record on human rights. You have longstanding laws against LGBT people. This is nothing new

When I was there, most Chinese people living in Brunei could not get a passport. They weren't considered bumiputera. I believe that the 'red IC' is still happening today. So 15% of Brunei's citizens are stateless and can't leave.

Thanks for the offer but protesting things which don’t directly concern me isn’t for me. I just think this is a scary and regressive thing to be happening in 2019. Even if it never happens the fact is that it might. There are at least four countries where it’s happened for other imagined “crimes”.

Well, certainly not in Brunei. The last execution was in 1957. That of course was the British.

The question is how many of those events will take place in a year? Should the first year be discounted; is there a quantity of people awaiting trial? Agree Law is barbaric, but will it do a job with offences coming to the attention of the authorities?
