There has not been an academy player anywhere near the bench in league games. We may see woods make the bench now due to lack of senior alternatives but I cannot see Roy taking any chances with the prize money on offer for finishing a place or 2 higher

There were a few of us suggesting AWB be given a chance the summer before he made his debut, so he didn't come out of nowhere. Kirby looks like he has a chance of making it, but he's not here. Innis is bloody huge and looked ok when he played in the cup. Others like Lumeka do not look like they are on the verge of ousting the likes of Townsend or even Sako (when he's fit). As others have mentioned Flanagan may be also be one that gets in the first-team squad before the end of the season, but then that would probably mean leaving out the likes of Meyer or Kouyate who probably need more game time themselves. Personally I doubt we'll see any of the young players do more than make the bench.

Didn't AWB wanted to go on loan in the Jan 18 transfer window to get first term experience and was blocked? I know he got the opportunity because of injuries but it looks like he was considered to be good enough.

People keep talking about the money we would receive for each place higher up the table we could finish but nobody seems to have mentioned the money we could potentially save ourselves if we unearthed the next AWB. I'm not saying play youngsters just for the sake of it, but if they have been performing well and are in the managerial teams thoughts why not give them a few minutes

Talking about money , i read this morning that AWB is on 15k a week , i know he is young but come on the powers that be. thats just taking the piss, give him a proper wage or he will definitely be off in the summer.

Roy wont give the youngsters a go and as others have pointed out the ones that have some potential have been loaned out already. we dont really have any quality youngsters

While the situation remains that there is a significant financial incentive to finish as in as high a position as you can, it's hard to see youngsters get given the chance that they used to. The money from the Premier is guaranteed. Any potential unearthing of the next AWB is a risk. To the best of my knowledge, there aren't many youngsters on our books that merit consideration at the moment.
