If it were not for Roy Hodgson we would be accompanying Fulham and Huddersfield into the championship in my opinion.

Those posters criticising the lack of goals fail to see that they would be leaking at the other end.

Good defence and organisation has kept Eagles up and in the PL for an 8th year.

Look at the bottom 3 teams all shipping goals.

Fulham over 40, our goal difference is 4.

Credit to SP and everyone connected, it is so much harder each season.

Unless there is a surprise sacking from the teams around us in the PL and I don't include Benitez walking as he won't come our way then I think SP will stick with Roy. However I am sure that he will also be thinking about the long term future of the role and may well discuss options with him at the end of the season.

This is the part that gets me every time.

So you dont think there is another manager alive today, across all top leagues in world football, other than RH, that could have overseen a successful fight against relegation this year?

There is not a single human being alive, that could have managed the team this year and avoided relegation?

Do you really believe that?

In platoon, there was a famous quote about Sgt Barnes.

"The only thing than can kill Barnes, is Barnes".

I think you know where I am going with this.

Parish is not sacking Hodgson, ever. If it goes tits up next year he will be allowed to retire gracefully (probably once its too late to avoid the drop knowing Parish).

One thing from r Roy is his ability to manage without a striker for a while. I doubt many could. But he is killing the creativity in the side. I’ll no doubt get replies of how many chances we’ve wasted, but we’re still killing the creative spark.

Still time for a sequel whereby he isn’t dead, has been held in a POW camp, is rescued by that can’t Nicholas Cage or Rambo at 70
and then hunts down Private Alias and subjects him to a gruesome death in his mansion or asset management office before wrapping him up in clear plastic. 3 films for the price of 1.

Edit: Elias is Willem Defoe and dies. Charlie Sheen plays Chris. Barnes hunts down Chris.

Or a prequel where he swears off disposable razors.

Maybe Roy’s HT talks are:

‘I want every swinging d1ck out on that field fighting the enemy.’

A lot of people are criticising Roy for a lack of creativity and our home record. IMO this is unfair for the following reasons:

For half the season we lacked an out and out centre-forward with Jordan Ayew playing out of position as a stop-gap.

Last season we had Cabaye and Loftus-Cheek - two attacking/creative midfielders who left last summer.

This season we brought in Max Meyer for that creative role, and although he has shown glimpses of his talent and put in 100% effort, has not yet adapted to the demands of the premier League.

So effectively there is a big hole in the creative department this season which we have struggled to fill. I agree it has been frustrating to watch at times, but in the end we look like having another season at the top level.

Some other posters have wanted us to move on to the 'next level'. By that I assume they mean a regular top 10 finish. So effectively there are four places available, as the top 6 are spoken for (unless some hugely rich investor buys us). So we're left with four places, from 7th to 10th.

Now look at the clubs we are up against for these positions - Leicester - a club with big money behind them and who actually won the league three years ago; West Ham - a club with a 60,000 stadium that costs them peanuts, so most of their income can go into squad-building; Everton - a much bigger club than us, about to build a new stadium and BTW have never been out of the top flight since 1949! So realistically that leaves one more place for us to battle out with all the other clubs remaining.

Lets face it - there are plenty of clubs of our status, and bigger (just look at the Championship table) who aspire to a top ten status and seasons free from relegation worries, but that is very hard to achieve. Effectively, we are in a relegation battle from day 1 each season.

All things considered, I thing Roy has done a marvellous job for us and I hope he stays for as long as he feels he's got the motivation and energy to do the job.

RH a brilliant job done again. Key is an organised defense and we certainly have that. Look at other teams around us above and below goals against is above average. Thanks RH and look forward to next season.
