Where might we be now if it wasn’t for super cool Kevin Phillips?

Spot on, where is Kevin these days, we will always be grateful for that brilliant pen. I'm off to watch it again on YouTube!!

I think it has to be between Luka or AJ, statistically across their careers (Not just Palace), AJ has scored 22 out of 26 pens, missing 4.
Luka has scored 19 out of 22, missing 3.
Both are great records, and its hard to call a clear favourite.. Interestingly, AJ never missed a Premier League penalty, though he did miss two in the same game for Everton in a European game off the back of not scoring for 6 months.
Just shows its down hill once you leave the Palace

Don’t know the stats, but I remember AJ missing a few. Always felt Freedman was better. Luka is lethal.

Sticking it out there... Tony Popovic. Didn’t take many, but he knew where the top corner was.

Freedman was the designated penalty taker as far as I remember. Didn't take them in the premiership as AJ was on his own, but certainly handed AJ the ball for the penalty vs Brighton.

Haven't we got the record for the most misses in a row under Alan Smith too?

John Sewell got to be my number one Think it was 1970 on a cold manchester night when John stepped up to steer one under Alex Stepney to earn us a point Certainly warmed me up Got to go matrons just come in with my porridge

Gareth Southgate should have taken more penalties for us , he could have done with the practice .

Luka is though our best ever , no question .

And we still need a striker

Jedi without doubt. He only took a few but never looked like missing

Benteke. Especially when we play Bournemouth.

Wife beating may be socially acceptable in Sheffield, but it is a different matter in Cheltenham

Not that particular one, but I recall Sewell scoring from the spot in a home match where the ball seemed to casually roll over the line. If the keeper hadn't gone the wrong way he could have had a cup of tea and brushed his hair and still saved it.

I can't remember being more confident than I am in Luka when we get a spot kick. But is he our best ever?

Who could be the contenders
Dave Madden - Scored against Blackburn and we got promoted. Can't remember another!

Ian Wright - I was only a youngster at the time but I think he could tuck them away. However, both him and Brighty were responsible for the 997 missed in the game against Brighton!

Andy Johnson - Won more than he scored and holds the record for most in a season. But I feel he did miss a few and was never 100% confident

Glenn Murray - Terrible penalty taker. About a 50/50 chance. But better than Benteke!

Luka - Missed against City (we would have been the first to beat them that season) and also against Everton. But apart from those 2, magnificent finishing, especially when setting the record straight at Man City this season.

But for me the best was Jedi. I don't remember him taking that many but I certainly don't remember him missing one. The one away at West Ham particularly nice when guaranteeing us Premier League status.

Would love Luka to beat AJs record this season. Great player and captain.

My memory of 2012-2013 season is that Murray was pretty reliable with his first penalty in a match, but did sometimes miss when a second one was awarded.

I am not to sure, but i think he had a 100% record from the spot, there was also some talk/gossip that he could hit either post 10 out 10 in practice.
