I have to say I have some sympathy with this sentiment......Woods and Kirby are surely very close to the first team anyway and some pitch time with these few remaining games is probably worth more than the money in terms of motivation and just seeing how they respond.

Me too.

Back in the day we would see some youngsters given a chance.

Danny Light anyone ?? ( that's aimed at my fellow old gits )

I have a vague recollection of seeing Danny score twice on his debut.

Having checked the records I think, unusually, my memory may be right. 6th May 1967, 2 goals on his debut in a 4-1 win against Hull. Bobby Woodruff got the other two. Attendance 11,329.

We need to get rid of our strikers(swap Benteke for Mitrovic plus some cash)but I see no reason not to give some of the acadamy a chance. The few quid we get for finishing a few places higher is offset in my mind by trying out some new blood.
Guess it wont happen.

Why Mitrovic?

Seems to play well for 5 games in a row when after a contract and then is completely anonymous for the next 33.

Hook another club and repeat.

" someone like Hodgson "

you mean someone who saved us from relegation.

Please put on a different record, the anti Hodgson one is wearing out

Roy is far too traditional, boring and negative to do that.

That’s what you get when you hire someone like Hodgson.

The day he starts putting out a bunch of kids in the premier league I will listen to a Brighton podcast.

After watching the U23's today V Leeds @SP, incl 5 1st team squad members, I wouldn't play them. Sam Wood, our (only) back up centre back, had to go off injured in 1st half.
God help us if Danns/Kelly/Ward get crocked.

Yes, shame about Woods, I had hoped we might see him on the bench for the 1st team. He went down under minimal challenge and seemed to twist something (ankle??). That does just leave Ryan Inniss.

On a brighter note, Luke Dreher looked good I thought. Just coming back from injury I believe but played for 80 minutes. Scored a good goal, breaking up play in his own half and arriving late in the box to be on the end of the cross. Probably not ready for the Premiership this season but looks a good prospect.

Dreher was replaced by Flanagan who didn't have much time to make an impression but did score a nice goal.

I don't recall seeing Brandon Pierrick before but I thought he showed some good touches and he certainly drew several fouls from Leeds defenders.

Of the over age players: Ayew looked good apart from an unerring ability to not score and Riedewald looked calm and composed (apart from making a terrible hash of a one on one with the Leeds keeper) without really seeming to exert himself.

Started watching the game today on the CPFC you tube channel but gave up after 10 minutes as Brighty was doing my head in he never shuts up and he is not even the main commentator. He is like an old woman.

Kian Flanagan & Levi Lumeka as bench options. One of the central backs, woods, Tavares or O’Dwyer on the bench maybe. Maybe Luke Dreher who has retuned from injury ?

Excellent opportunity to give fringe players and youngsters a chance.

A good few performances could boost their value by more than we'll lose in league positions.

If they turn out to be half the player AWB is they could still be a good squad player and save us millions more in transfer fees.
