When Wilf switched wings today following Meyer's introduction, it struck me that we have been playing our best player out of position now for almost 3 years!

We talk of a lack of goals, about one striker after another after another not being good enough and yet we contrive crosses from the weaker feet of our two wingers. You couldn't make it up.

You can make it up, they both like playing on the wrong wing cos they like cutting inside onto their stronger foot to shoot or cross the ball, watch Townsend in particular.

And how has that been going for them/us?

Works sometimes not others, just think it's the preferred way the players themselves prefer it, not necessarily a RH tactic. No point having Townsend crossing on his favoured left foot away from the goal, inswinging crosses should be more dangerous. Wilf can actually hit dangerous low crosses with his left foot or shoot with his right foot coming in from the left so I can understand why they play where they do most of the time.

Multiple managers have thought the same Gerry and yet I'm not sure the stats justify it. I respect yours and their opinions though.
My gripe is perhaps a more simple one: our best player, imho is being played out of position and appears to be more comfortable/confident/effective when playing on the right.

Probably agree with that to an extent but in that case where do we play Townsend who does his fair share of defensive duties down the right hand side, if Wilf covered PVA as well as Townsend does on the other side we may not have conceded either of City's first two goals today.
Funny thing is that Wilf and PVA had a good link up going earlier in the season, this no longer seems to happen, I wonder why.

Schlupp is now probably out for the remainder of the season so maybe Meyer will get the chance to show us what he is made of, the other position is a bit more difficult between Mac and Kouyate, I think it's six of one and half a dozen.

If Schlupp is out for the rest of the season, I can see Kouyate getting the nod over Meyer at Arsenal.

Yep, and unfortunately we’ll be even more toothless. Even Danny Murphy was quite critical of his former manager’s team. ‘Passive and lethargic’ he described us as. Pretty accurate.
